Re: 2 comma club (my way)!!
Folks, I will not be in this financial status without this forum!! I am on this board more often than any other site except my work outlook. I read as much as I can and try to understand it all. Some things I do not understand like Cruncher's numbers or "should bonds be in taxable".......I understand others better like posts from Nisi, Ladygeek, retiredjg.......but it does not matter. I follow the 3 fund portfolio and am conservative. Also quite grateful to timing, lots of savings, luck, good health, family and all of you!
(I wanted to start with "honestly...........blah blah blah........"
But then the statement gets suspect that it is not honest!)

Congrats. I am in a very similar situation you were in a couple of years ago. I am 46 and just got into the 2 comma club in investable assets earlier this year. Amazing that you made the next million in only 2 years. Can you share what you are saving per year and your asset allocation?

That sure was fast. Good times in the markets, certainly helps.

My AA is around 65:35. I re balance once a year by buying more of what is less.3wood wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2017 8:48 pm Congrats. I am in a very similar situation you were in a couple of years ago. I am saving a lot, the numbers below are not perfect but they give the trend;
In taxable alone
Year total taxable + additional saving/year
2015 = 620 = +240
2016 = 800 = +180
2017 = +200
And do backdoor roth of 11 k /year plus IRA and def. compensation of around 37k/year - don't remember exact amounts as its done automatically.
The only thing I have not done is to automate my taxable investments. I need to set a floor by doing twice monthly taxable investments into vanguard.
FWIW, I even chased bonuses and will get around $1800 this year and $2000 next year.
Not sure if I want to keep doing this - daily fluctuations in taxable account are much larger than $2k!.....but good experience in tracking the bonuses.

If you don't mind, are you salaried, consulting, or a business owner? And if you really feel like sharing, what general field are you in? Please feel free to ignore these questions.
Congrats!

That was really fast! Can you share how much you think is market returns and how much is new money??? They aren't kidding apparently when they say the second is easier!randomizer wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2017 8:57 pmThat sure was fast. Good times in the markets, certainly helps.

This sounds great but not enough info is provided.
Age, salary, expenses, etc. If op and wife are making a combined $400k...not so impressive. If they're making a combined $150k...impressive. Just sayin.
