Almost anything on AMC; Breaking Bad, The Killing and Mad Men. Deadwood was a great show too, unfortunately they had to cancel it. At least HBO has Game of Thrones and renewed for a 3rd year. My favorite sitcom is Big, Bang, Theory or Modern Family.

Breaking Bad is starting up soon! I also enjoy Mad Men, The Killing, Fringe, Grimm, and Masterpiece Theater.

The Good Wife, True Blood and The Walking Dead
Re: What is your favorite TV show?
Not even close - Mad Men. It's a reflection of what I deal with, except for the infidelity and smoking.
Re: What is your favorite TV show?
No Reservations. Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Breaking Bad. Flipping Out.
Re: What is your favorite TV show?
The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, Dexter and Nurse Jackie. The first season of AHS was extremely good, waiting for season 2 to start. My wife would say So You Think You Can Dance. Really enjoyed Rescue Me until it petered out over its final two seasons.
Re: What is your favorite TV show?
I don't have a television. If I did, however, my favorite TV show would be Mad Men.

Re: What is your favorite TV show?
I am embarrassed to say that I don't watch any Tv shows in the classic sense. I do watch TV- mainly news shows, sports, Nat geo wild, etc. But I have a policy for the last 30 years or so that came about which is if one show has any relationship in terms of characters or plots to a prior one I wouldn't watch it. This knocks out everything. I did break the rule once about 20 years ago when I watched Twin Peaks. Although I don't think I understood anything, I loved it.

Hi All,
Multi-year lurker, first time poster. Thanks to everyone for helping me get my savings and investing strategy into shape - I'm very happy with the way it is working out.
I couldn't resist answering this question.
My favorite TV show is Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales, obviously.

Futurama ain't got much. Well, the Star Trek folk showed up in an episode, but as themselves not their characters. They were all heads in jars by the end.Muchtolearn wrote:But I have a policy for the last 30 years or so that came about which is if one show has any relationship in terms of characters or plots to a prior one I wouldn't watch it. Does this sound like rehashed plotting?
Fry: Is that blimp accurate?
Leela: Yep. It's December 31st, 2999[1].
Fry: My god, a million years[2]...
[1] Fry was accidentally[3] frozen in a cryogenics facility while delivering a pizza in 1999.
[2] Fry isn't very, what's the word, smart.
[3] Or WAS it accidental?
Fry: Can I ask you a question?
Leela: As long as it's not about my eye.
Fry: Uhh...
Leela: Is it about my eye[1]?
Fry: Sort of.
Leela: [sighs] Just ask the question.
Fry: What's with the eye?
Leela: I'm an alien[2].
Fry: [excited] Cool, an alien. Has your race taken over the Earth?
Leela: No, I just work here[3].
[1] She is cyclops. A sexy one!
[2] Or IS she?
[3] Not for long!

Currently, Mad Men and Curb Your Enthusiasm. I also watch Boardwalk Empire and Justified.
All-time, I would go with Seinfeld, The Sopranos, and The Wonder Years. Quite a variety with those three.

I only look forward to one show each night:
The O'Reilly Factor. He really makes me laugh.
Lest you think think this post has a political slant, let me state I dislike:
Hannity. He makes me want to barf.

Doc Martin, PBS
Foyle's War, PBS
Midsomer Murders, PBS
Das Journal, Deutsche Welle
Fareed Zakaria's GPS, CNN
Nova, PBS
Usually need to see the British crime shows several times to get the plot and understand 'who dunn it' and why...but like a good puzzle, that is what makes them fun.

I actually watch him occasionally too (how else to get a range of perspectives). But the two can't be compared. They are different programs with very different hosts. One can make a living exclusively in stand-up comedy if he chose. So he is multi-talented. The other (Uncle Bill) hurts his face when he smiles. And I've never seen him laugh in a way that would say 'we need to go to commercial so I can compose myself.' UB, as I see him, almost originates with anger--it is what he connects to his audience with. Maher can be angry at times too (as we all can) but his genesis is with humorous commentary on the state of our society, our politics, and our species in general. I guess I'm left to ask, why did you ask????

Same here. O'Reilly is about the only politically-based show I can watch as I generally find him to be pretty fair on a lot of issues. He's probably more even-keeled than some people give him credit for.
I should note that I no longer have cable and only watch old shows on netflix
What I usually try and watch:
Seinfeld
Arrested Development
The Office (the first 4-5 seasons), but not so much now
Been watching a show called Portlandia, a spoof on a certain subset of people who live in portland/seattle areas and I find it very funny
Southpark (horrible I know, and my wife never lets me watch it when she is around, but I love feeding my immature side once in a while )
The Big Bang Theory (I find it to be pretty decent once in a while)

Re: What is your favorite TV show?
Game of thrones.
By far the best show I have ever seen. Hands down.
After winning golden globes and Emmys after only it's first season and being the highest rated show on imdb in two categories ever and second highest ever in the third and already being HBO's third most watched show EVER already and it's only season two. DVD sales pace broke all HBO records even beating the Sopranos. Oh, and it's also the most illegally downloaded show of all time already with over 25 million downloads and counting, some days alone are over 2.5 million per day.
Basically you need to watch this show. After the first show the next few episodes are a little slow because they are introducing a lot of characters but by the end of season 1 you will be amazed and season 2 is even better. HBO is spending $5 million dollars per episode so you know they are good. Be careful what you read online though because the shows are based on books that are already written and you don't want to spoil who dies in the future and things like that for yourself.
