I'm enjoying the new series Longmire on A&E. Based on the excellent books by Craig Johnson.

All fun stuff.
My favorite exchange from "You Bet Your Life:"

While interviewing a young, pretty girl before the YBYL game, he jokingly proposes to marry her.

Shocked by the marriage proposal, she replies, "But that's bigamy!"

Groucho quips, "Yes, and it's big of me, too." :D
Are you sure about this? I thought that exchange was from one of the Marx Bros.' early movies? I think it's from Animal Crackers or Monkey Business.
He said it in Animal Crackers, too. I guess he recycled the joke when he had an opportunity to do so in YBYL. :happy

I have viewed two episodes to Inside Combat Rescue on NatGeo. Probably the best reality show ever presented. Gotta admire those PJs.

About the Show
The elite Combat Rescue members of the U.S. Air Force, Pararescuemen, or PJs, have one mission: rescue American or Allied forces in extreme danger. Whether their targets are shot down or isolated behind enemy lines, surrounded, engaged, wounded, or captured by the enemy, PJs will do whatever necessary to bring those in peril home. For the first time in their history, the PJs allow camera crews to cover their missions in Afghanistan. Inside Combat Rescue is the story of the lives of these elite airmen.

Every one I like gets canceled - Eureka, Stargate SG-1, Awake, Dead Like Me.

I do like Masterpiece Theater costume dramas and Inspector Morse, Lewis, etc.

I got rid of my television a few years ago, so I am a lot out of the loop now. My plan was to watch on hulu or websites, but that has pretty much fallen by the wayside. After watching the first few episodes of Downton Abbey on the web and then learning they had been edited down for the US, I planned to buy the unedited DVDs when it was completed and watch without dragged out cliffhangers, but then I read they'd killed off the nice guy. I hate it when shows do that, so no DVD purchases from me.

Reading the other responses, I also vote for The Prisoner and throw in Tour of Duty, the latter a very underappreciated show.

+1 on GOT. Waiting for Season 3.

Other than live sporting events, have very little use for TV.

Just DVR Vikings from the History Channel, did not have a chance to watch it yet.

I would like to take this moment to thank the St. Louis Public Library for providing access to DVD's of all my favorite shows. I might always be one year behind most people when it comes to discussing recent episodes, but I don't have cable bills to pay. :happy

Many of my favorites:

Breaking Bad
Homeland (Btw, if you like Damian Lewis, you might watch a series called "Life" too. It's very good; came out around 2007/2008.)
Game of Thrones
Dexter
House of Cards
Deadwood (I've also seen Justified listed. I watched the first few episodes/DVDs but wasn't impressed and gave up on it.)
Downton Abbey
Mad Men
The Wire
The Shield (Why's it hardly mentioned? This show was equal to the likes of The Wire, Breaking Bad, Homeland...)
Battlestar Galactica (Not the horrible 70's original!)
True Blood
The Sopranos
Boardwalk Empire (So so...)
Dead Like Me (Somewhat obscure, but well-done. Short-lived though.)
Firefly (Great sci-fi, but short-lived as well.)

I agree with many shows here, but there is one reality show that I have not seen mentioned. Alaska: The Last Frontier differs from much in the reality genre. It is about an extended family (related to the singer Jewel, btw) who are homesteaders in Alaska. They are intelligent, resourceful, thoughtful, respectful of each other, and people I'd be honored to have over for Thanksgiving dinner.
I get the FI part but not the RE part of FIRE.

I have 3 non-sports, non-movie DVR worthy shows: Mad Men, Walking Dead, and Duck Dynasty.

Most of my non-sports, non-controversial TV watching is old movies on Turner Classic Movies.
