Winter Boots - Reccomendations
I am looking to purchase myself a new pair of winter boots. I've check out Sorel, Northface, Columbia and LLBean. Are there any other manufacturers you folks can reccomend?
Thanks!
Thanks!

winter boots
Am assuming you're male, but in case you're not:
Bogs boots. Neoprene (i.e. super-warm), waterproof, great patterns, good on ice. I skipped my Sorels this past winter and wore my bogs all the time.

I've had my North Face winter boots for over 5 years now and they have served me quite well until now. I spent considerable time out in the CT and Maine snow and my feet have been remarkably warm. Good wool sox are also important.
Only now has the rubber toe begun to peel away on one boot so I have been looking for another pair. I have shopped online at REI, EMS and Sportsman's Guide and have almost been tempted to buy another brand after reading various customer reviews.
However, good sense got ahold of me and I'm marching right back to EMS for for another pair of North Face. I may upgrade to a more expensive model, but the $85.00 spent last time was well worth the money.

The first question to ask yourself is "what for"?
Are you planning to climb Everest (in the winter that should be fun)? Denali? Going hiking? Just to 10 yds. between your car and your house?
When it becomes really cold in Alabama then we switch from flip flops to sandals...
But for mnt. hiking/climbing: Scarpa, Asolo, Koflach, Merrell, etc.

I'm really happy with my Kamik boots that I got from Zappos.com. Waterproof, very tall, well insulated. The closest match to what I bought that I see on their site now is the Goliath 3 style.

I mostly use them for snow removal in the MN winter, which I'm guessing from your name might be your intended purpose. I can walk through drifts and still keep warm and dry feet.
