I'm thinking about getting a 43" Samsung QN90D mini LED as a computer monitor to use for both gaming and productivity work.
This is a 4K UHD HDR 10+ monitor that can do 144hz refresh, which is more than good enough for my use.
There is currently a really good sale on the model, making it much more attractive than actual good "computer monitors"
Would this be something to consider, using a higher end mini LED as a computer monitor?

Seems a little big to sit so close. Pcworld has a good article on it here. There’s more to it than just the 144hz refresh. There’s pixel density, resolution, input lag, response time, etc.

Pc mag says it has excellent gaming performance.

I've been using a Sony 49" (49X720E) as my primary monitor for the past 7 years and it's been wonderful. It replaced a Westinghouse 37" that had died after 13 years. So 2 full decades in the "big display club" and never going back.
About the only thing I might have changed this time around if I were doing it again would be to get a pair of 43s instead of one 49. I can't fit two 49s side-by-side in my current setup. So instead I might at some point add a 27" 1080p in portrait orientation on one side. When this one dies, next step is likely a 55" 8k, which is essentially four 28" 4ks in a cluster with no bezels.

I've been using a Samsung 43-inch smart TV for over 4+ years and it's been absolutely fantastic. Mine is a model UN43NU6950F purchased from Costco. Avoid anything LG because everything of theirs have longevity issues. This includes monitors, refrigerators and especially their smart TV's. My Samsung can even be pressed into service as a backup TV especially when the kids monopolize the larger living room TV watching their programs.

I have two 40-inch TVs as dual computer monitors. Love them.

how much into gaming are you ? I would seriously consider OLED if you wanted to use it for PC gaming (better colors, real blacks ,etc). and OLED with enough controller software to handle everything you want to use (HDR formats, G-Sync, etc.). Without it, you will not be happy (screen tearing, etc).OldSport wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 10:25 pm I'm thinking about getting a 43" Samsung QN90D mini LED as a computer monitor to use for both gaming and productivity work.

I personally use LG OLED for my main PC monitor + gaming and pretty happy with it.

I've been using 40 to 43 inch 4K TVs as a computer monitor for at least 10 years. Works perfect for me.

Add me to the list of people that use and love their 43" monitor.
I got a Samsung (I think) 43" TV 5-6 years ago, and love it. I don't sit super close to my monitor though.

Depends on what you use your computer for.
If you read on it, text tends to not be as easy to read on a TV compared to a computer monitor (it can appear more blurry), even between computer monitors some display technologies are better than other with regards to text clarity and sharpness (OLED, IPS, VA, TN, etc)
I've been holding off on upgrading to an OLED computer monitor, while it would be great for gaming it wouldn't be ideal for text (compared to my existing IPS panel) as I spend most of my time on my computer working/reading text
