USPS Informed Delivery said I should be receiving a letter from the IRS Austin TX location nearly a week ago but I've not received it yet. I recently relented and finally signed up for ID.me to get access to my IRS account and was wondering if the letter relates to that. There are no Letters & Notifications on my IRS online account. Unfortunately, this is not the first time USPS messed up my mail with the IRS.
Hoping to avoid having to track this letter down with the IRS. Thanks.

Yes. I don't recall there being anything of substance in the letter beyond a confirmation–it went straight to the trash.

Did you actually see the image of the letter on the Informed Delivery page? If so, then I'd open a case with USPS for that item.

You typically just see the envelope–though it's occasionally possible to read text beneath it.

OP here. It appears that my question has been answered, thanks. I did receive an image of the envelope but the address window is blank. A little online research found that happens sometimes with envelopes from the IRS and USPS Informed Delivery for some reason where the name and address is blanked out.

Yes, I got one, about a month after I registered.
DH registered a couple of weeks ago; we haven't seen his mailer yet.

I got IRS confirmation by USPS mail within a week of ID.me setup. USPS Informed Delivery showed the image of the envelope with Dept of Treasury/IRS as sender, but my name/address were blank.
The letter itself essentially said to contact them if I hadn't set it up. It wasn't something to save, so it went to trash.
