I've been happy with the complimentary Macy's zippable suit covers/protectors for years, but Macy's stopped giving them out about 8-10 years ago.

I've tried buying a few from Amazon but the cheap plastic off gassing would ruin my good suits, no way would I use those. The Macy's ones never smell. I'd pay for them of they sold them new.

What suit covers are available that are at least as good as the old complimentary Macy's ones that don't smell/off gas that will ruin clothes with cheap plastic smell. Thanks.

What are you using them for? I've always been told not to keep suits in those cheap covers because the wool needs to be able to air out and breathe.

If you are using them for travel, get an actual travel case for the suits.

If you are using them for travel, get an actual travel case for the suits.

Travel and transit. If I'm going on nothing but business meetings with suits, I have an actual travel case, but more often than not, I'm on business meetings that requires dress shirt and a sport coat (in the bags), combined with the need for a normal suitcase, so I fold the suit protector in.

The other use case is when I'm driving so just hang it up in these and protects when taking to/from car.

In any case, I just want to find something that is at least as good as what Macy's used to give away. It has to exist. Does Jos A Bank or Brooks Brothers sell or still give theirs away? Those were decent as well.

I pack the same way and can't bear the thought of trying to travel without having jackets, pants and shirts on hangers.

I use a lightweight fabric garment bag that came with a suitcase. The suitcase has long since been retired, but I still use the garment bag.
The back side is solid fabric and the front is mesh fabric. It has a metal frame so you can fold it in thirds and a snap to hold it together.
FWIW the fabric has the Samsonite logo.

I haven't use this item, but have several packing cubes and envelopes from Eagle Creek that have held up well for years.
(Oddly this item only seems to be available on Amazon. Not sure what's up with that.)

I use inexpensive, breathable garment bags like these:

I they do not off-gas, they keep dust off and moths out. I throw a small piece of aromatic cedar in, too, for good measure on the moths.

Depending on the brand and type...no outgassing, no nasty plastic smell, or cheap deodorant or cologne type of smell...

Also, no need for products that introduce the smell of "clean", or smell of "something".

For casual use - like in the car - white kitchen trash bags (as from Costco) are perfectly serviceable if you're like Richard Feynman's first wife and not inclined to care what other people think.

Maybe a good men's store in your area could advise you?

Or maybe The Container Store? I think I have seen suiter bags in their travel section.
