Two songs come to mind, and they actually relate back to the financial markets.

(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones - 1965
I'm a Believer by the Monkees - 1967

This one relates to a financial institution, sort of. Good dance song, anyway.

Mony Mony by Tommy James & The Shondells

https://songsfrommemory.com/what-does-t ... mony-mean/

According to the story, in James’ Manhattan Apartment, he and his writing partner, Richie Cordell, were actually going through the dictionary, trying to come up with a word. Nothing worked. So, James stepped out onto the balcony to get a breath of fresh air, and there in front of him was a flashing neon sign on top of the 40 story Mutual Of New York Insurance Company. M.O.N.Y. James had his song title. After he told Cordell, the duo “both fell down laughing.”

Too much great stuff to remember with much already mentioned.

Beach Boys, Stones, Beatles, Motown groups, various Phil Spector groups, Sinatra too many to enumerate.

Other stuff I still listen to after 60 years that comes immediately to mind;
Your Love is Lifting Me Higher-Jackie Wilson (dynamite live performer)
Cast Your Fate to the Wind-We Five
You Send Me-Sam Cooke

For other centuries '60s, Mozart piano concerti 1-4 and maybe 1-6. hat tip JJ

Great song. I'm teaching my young grandchildren the hits of the 1960s and 1970s and always play this as the last song. We call it "the Goodbye Song" and they know the music session is over.

That's awesome.
To be able to spend time with your grandchildren with your "favorite music from the 60's".

(songs from a different time and cultural things)

DW and I and the kids used to all pile up on one bed, before bed time, and we would sing "songs from Peter, Paul, and Mary" as I played my guitar. The songs were easy to play and easy to learn and sing along with. Everywhere.

My "favorite music from the 60's"

Peter, Paul, and Mary

Puff the Magic Dragon (for children singing about the imaginary dragon) :D :D
Where Have All the Flowers Gone
If I Had A Hammer
Early In The Morning
500 Miles

Actually, they live 700 miles away. We do this by FACETIME a few times per week, just before bedtime. They dance around and get tired. It acts as a short term babysitter for the parents to clean up dinner and the kids love it. Some of our songs:

The Lion Sleeps Tonight
It’s my Party
Ain’t no mountain
Big girls don’t cry
Locomotion
Jeremiah was a bullfrog (Joy to the world)
I wanna hold your hand
Duke of Earl (my late father’s song)
We are family (not 60’s)
Disco (1970s)

Anyway, it’s a great way to bond with the grandkids from far away and give them good music memories for later in their lives. Every time they hear one of the songs, they’ll reconnect.

Was fortunate enough to see Grace Slick sing this live in Monroe, LA, March 1986. Absolutely haunting. Our first-born showed up about a month later. Always told her this was her first live concert, lol.

Interesting difference to me between this thread and the 70s thread. In this thread I find myself nodding approvingly at every post. In the 70s thread I nod at about half and think "oh no" at the other half. LOL!

That's interesting.
I wonder if "favorite music" (of what decades) as a "boglehead hobby" is a lot like W. Bernstein's book, "Life Cycle Investing: Ages of the Investor" where there's an "interest and retention" glide slope that matches life and post puberty and all that?

As an aside:
"Bogleheads" "favorite music hobbies: tangent to consumer items (what we buy) like the current thread "ear buds" and other threads on stereo speakers and equipment, etc.

Thanks for the reminder of Bobby Goldsboro songs, I think he was on Ed Sullivan and other TV shows.

“one man in a million may shout a bit, now and then there’s one with slight defects, one perhaps whose truthfulness you doubt a bit…”
Yes.
"Favorite Music from the 60's" also came from movies and TV.

Like this one. Annette Funacello doing "Pineapple Princess"

Local Hawaii folks liked these movie clips because anything in film with Hawaii in it was a hit, on the other hand, seemed corney at times, but always fun.

For fun:
Paul Anka doing "Puppy Love" as a tribute clip montage to Annette Funacello.
Enjoy

The 60s was a decade with some memorable songs, so gotta throw in a few as yet unmentioned favorites:

Runaway -- Del Shannon
Crying -- Roy Orbison
Runaround Sue -- Dion
Up On The Roof -- Drifters
Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow -- Shirelles

We're Only in It for the Money (1968) by the Mothers of Invention was a great album, and it seems to belong here.
