Best Webcam with Microphone under $10

Looking for the best webcam with microphone under $10

We need to buy 23 of them, for 23 different students (so that they can attend class via Zoom this semester). Yes, we are paying for it out of our own pockets, so looking for something affordable.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

"under $10".....good luck with that! Even knock offs of dubious quality (video and audio clarity) are in the $15 range.

Believe it or not, there is one webcam for $9.99 on Amazon, but the reviews aren't very good.

When you get into the $25-up range the reviews are better.

there is a world wide shortage of webcams. ( i checked some of the charities I know that resell used computing equipment gifted by companies and they all have 0 stock in webcams)

Do any of the 23 students own laptops, chromebooks, tablets, or phones? The mics and webcams on all of those are likely to be a lot better than cheap stand alones. I'd think that cheap stand alones only make sense for those who are using desktop computers that do not have mics and webcams built in.

Do your students already have cell phone? The EPOCCAM (https://www.elgato.com/en/epoccam) app works well for our desktop (that has neither camera nor microphone). It was under $10, as I remember. The paid version is much better than the free one, which was pretty much unusable.

Second the Epoccam recommendation. As for webcams, the Logitech C270 ($27.49 from target) is by far the best cheap webcam available, and I would not recommend trying to spend less.

Wirecutter’s budget pick is $60. Just a data point and I’m sorry that it isn’t a helpful solution.

I also recommend cameras built into smartphones, tablets, and laptops. However, it is possible to find webcams under $10.

Just to see, I bought a webcam on eBay for $14. I wasn't expecting a lot, but it did seem like someone could make a reasonable camera for that cost, given the low cost of the components. However, it was pure junk, I could hardly recognize myself in the picture.

Perhaps look at prices oprions on Amazon, and find what you like based on the reviews. Then go to eBay and buy good used versions of the one you saw on Amazon. I think you’ll have a better chance of getting to your price point for a better webcam.

It uses the mic in the phone.

Due to tons of work from home, school from home, webcams are in huge demand. I ended up with these after I paid about 4x for a few logitechs.
