Will be a very easy sale. I was able to sell two of the new XBOX X units very quickly at a nice price.

Re: Playstation 5
I do find it ironic that your screen name is “Thegame14” and haven’t played a console since the original PS.
Not a gamer, but we do play PS games, abs I too don’t like the online teams & shooter games. I play a lot of the sports and racing type games. My kids really love Minecraft and roblox.
I suggest the PS subscription opposed to buying games. It definitely the direction of the future.
However, if you don’t really want a PS, you could be an amazing Christmas hero and sell it to some family with kids at a FAIR price. They wound be extremely happy.
I’ve been trying to get one for my son, but can’t beat the bots online and refuse to pay >$1,000 when I can wait 3 months and get it for $500. However if someone offered me one at 20-25% over MSRP, which IMO would a fair markup, I would buy it in a minute.

Re: Playstation 5
IMHO the PS5 is an excellent PS4 gaming machine, think of it as a PS4 Pro+++. I got my PS5 at launch and have yet to buy a single PS5 game. I'm just playing through my PS4 backlog with improved FPS, loading times, and visuals. Depending on the age of your son, many of the top PS4/PS5 games will be too violent or geared for adults/teens, so be aware of that. However if your son is an older teen or young adult there are numerous very highly rated single player games. Do not hesitate to pick up PS4 games, in many cases they play significantly better on PS5 and will fill the void until more PS5 titles are released.
Must have games for PS5:
Must have games for PS5:
- Spiderman Miles Morales Ultimate (comes with remaster of original game, so two games in one)
- Demon's Souls (only if this genre appeals to your son, the game is very difficult and violent and not suitable for all ages)
- Astro's Playroom (comes free with PS5, very fun demo game)
- Ghosts of Tsushima
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- The Last of Us 1 and 2
- God of War
- Uncharted 1-4 - The first three are remastered PS3 games so they look dated but still excellent, the fourth is for PS4
- Uncharted Lost Legacy - nice spin off game from main series
- Tomb Raider 1-3 reboots - great games if the Uncharted/action adventure genre appeals
- Red Dead Redemption 2

Why don't you ask your son what type of games he likes? Seems to be the best option because he'll likely be the one playing it.Thegame14 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:39 am Wife's company announced today that every employee is getting a PS5 as a Xmas gift from the company. Re: Playstation 5
Best game out right now is Warzone, it's also free. 75 million active, last I read.
I can't get into most story/RPG games anymore, nothing new under the sun. Feels like I'm pressing buttons on a long/poorly written movie. I got back into gaming when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out. Felt like a walking simulator where I was encountering the same scripted stuff at every town.
I like competitive stuff online. Fun to play with friends online.

Sell it and put the cash into his 529 or other investments, he will thank you later long after the game is gone.

That's ridiculous, where do you stop then? Might as well sell his TV too...probably doesn't need a mattress either could find him a cot to sleep on. I mean lets be realistic here... Kids live in the moment, if I was a kid and my parents told me I had the choice between $500 in a college savings account and a new PS5....well that's a pretty easy answer for any kid.

Re: Playstation 5
Agree that not any must have ps5 games, but ps4 games run great on it.
Cyberpunk 2077. Being raked over the coals for buggy release on regular consoles, but a lot of the bugs have already been fixed and it runs fine on the ps5. Free ps5 upgrade eventually. Not appropriate for your child, but you will love it.
Mikes Morales (ps5) with Spider-Man remastered
Ghost of Tsushima. Got robbed of goty imho.
Witcher 3.
Be sure to check out the games you get for free getting the ps plus.
https://blog.playstation.com/2020/10/28 ... lus-games/
Great games here include shadow of war and last of us and fallout 4.
If it was me I’d get him ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man miles ultimate plus the ps plus collection.

Re: Playstation 5
I have plenty of interest in gaming, games like Civ or Command and conquer, Risk, Stronghold, all the strategy take over the world type games or build a character up and level type games, but zero interest in these new games with kids with headsets and teams and first person shooter, where you have to be glued to the screen and hit crazy combinations of buttons to do anything. I like simple strategy, action or character building games, that are turn based and you dont have to be glued to a screen. I have kids so I cant be stuck trying to boss with a team or on a mission and cant walk away...emoore wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:55 amIf you have no interest in gaming then why don't you just sell it?Thegame14 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 9:39 am Wife's company announced today that every employee is getting a PS5 as a Xmas gift from the company. Re: Playstation 5
Thegame is for Triple H, and I play PC games, since most games and systems seem to be geared to these kids who play teams and wear headsets and do missions and I cant be glued to a screen, I play turn based or games you can play and be AFK, so no COD, or fortnite or any of that stuff....DoubleComma wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 10:22 am I do find it ironic that your screen name is “Thegame14” and haven’t played a console since the original PS.

If you didn’t really want a PS5, I’d sell the PS5 on eBay for a reasonable mark up or auction it, and then buy it back for MSRP later if you decide you want it.

As someone who just purchased a PS five after 47 years, this is an excellent summary.tsm1th wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 10:28 am IMHO the PS5 is an excellent PS4 gaming machine, think of it as a PS4 Pro+++. Oh man where to begin
Devil May Cry 5
Metal Gear Rising - Revengeance
Neir Automata
Neir Replicant
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 16
(Honestly any Final Fantasy game)
None of these are shooters. All of these games have a fantastic story, music, and all are action based games. Some of them have genuinely beautiful narratives and you'll have countless moments where you'll be laughing and go "did that actually just happen" and others that actually might make you cry. I 100% recommend them all

Hogwarts Legacy is on sale for $20. It’s not the best game. But at that price point and love of the Harry Potter books. It’s worth it.
And I do like the FF VII remakes.
The Skyrim updates for PS5 make it a replay.

I'd gift it to your son, if he's interested. Or another young family member. Cousins? Nephew? Niece? Or give to a less fortunate local family with young kids? Or sell it is another option.
Light weight baby!
Re: Playstation 5
Even though Last of Us 1 & 2 are shooters, they are absolutely worth playing for the depth of the story alone.
I'd also say Elden Ring (plus new expansion) is a must have/play game for any console.
