Insurance year and economics of prescriptions

Post by fposte » Mon Jun 29, 2020 3:04 pm

It's close to the end of my insurance year, so I followed my long practice of getting whatever refills were available before the year ends.

But that's an old habit I developed years ago when my prescription patterns were very different. Given that these are all maintenance medications that I'm unlikely to go off of and that I always meet the deductible and then some, does it really matter? It doesn't take a lot of effort and I prefer to refill early anyway, but I'm wondering if it's financially neutral rather than advantageous at this point.
