Wow, what a terrific thread. I'm going to spend some time going through it all. My best listens today were:

Buckethead - Too Many Humans
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgCZji378ZQ

and

Mark Knopfler - A Place Where We Used to Live

Cool! Not familiar with either of these artists.

I like the guitar player's sound on Buckethead and Mark's voice is very interesting, a little mysterious. :happy

You might remember Mark Knopfler if I mention he was the voice and the distinctive guitar of Dire Straits. As to Buckethead, the mask and the KFC bucket are odd aesthetic choices, and the song Soothsayer shows more of his shredding chops, but this one just sounds so much sweeter to me.

Aha! I never listened to Dire Straits except for the hits on the radio but will have to listen to more tracks now.

Yeah, Buckethead seems to have an odd outfit as you noted but I will check out some other tracks on Spotify. Certainly has the chops.

Lately I have been listening to old Bing Crosby radio shows from the 1940's. I love Bing, he is one of my all time favorites.

I'm on an early BeeGees kick and have been watching some of their videos. Can't get Robin's soulful Massachusetts out of my head this week...as well as I Started to Joke. Wow, those are great songs--much better, IMO, than their disco phase.

Here's another phenomenal interpretation of John Prine's Hello in There — a brand spanking new, lock-down-inspired offering from Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. A bit slower, and even more of a tear-jerker.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVKMw0o ... dex=5&t=0s

From their site:
TO OUR FRIENDS AND FANS,

For reasons better discussed in the history books, in the Spring of 2020 Gillian and I dusted off an old tape machine and did some home recording. Sometimes we bumped the microphone, sometimes the tape ran out, but in the end we captured performances of some songs we love. Five are first takes and five took a little more doing, but they all helped pass the time and held our interest in playback enough that we wanted to share them with you. We sincerely hope that you enjoy

ALL THE GOOD TIMES

– David & Gillian

Feeling melancholy going through my mother's papers that were in a box. Things like her elementary report card. Found a letter from Eydie Gormé as a condolence on my brother's death decades ago. I remember meeting her once in Manhattan. She was a class act.

Jazz vocal group - Lambert, Hendricks and Ross

RIP Annie Ross who just died recently at age 89. "Twisted" was her most popular song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv31CfaEXIY

From a NY Times article this week:

"Annie Ross, Jazz Vocalist of ‘Twisted’ Renown, Dies at 89
She rose to fame with the vocal group Lambert, Hendricks and Ross and, after personal struggles, found success as both an actress and a cabaret mainstay."

... a fascinating interview with scientist James Lovelock
Veteran environmentalist James Lovelock reflects on his career and the planet's future, as he turns 101 years old. The independent scientist, Wollaston medal recipient and inventor of the Gaia Hypothesis sits down with the BBC’s Chief Environment correspondent Justin Rowlatt to talk about his humble upbringing between the two World Wars, his inventions that helped propel the green movement, as well as his thoughts on the over-specialisation of the university system, and the future of human life on Earth.
