Seeking ideas for name of Project

Post by sksbog » Wed Apr 10, 2019 9:06 am

Hi All,

Since so many talented and successful professionals are here I thought of seeking suggestions on this.

I am working on a huge project to replace an older legacy software component with a modern and dynamic software at my work.
Seeking some advice on the name of the project? some have suggested Refresh or Re-platform? Project Jupiter? what do you think?

thanks

I suggest Project 2020.

Has a nice ring to it. And it will probably take that long to get a major software upgrade working . . . .

Maybe something with "transformation" in it. "NextGen" was always popular.

No acronyms - they're out of style.

"Refresh", "Re-platform", seem too vague. What does the software actually do?

Hmm, the stuff nobody sees. Well, I looked for a synonym of "communication". How about "Project Intercourse"? Everyone will remember it!

20 years ago I got tired of wasting time on choosing names, so I wrote a script to randomly choose a 3-5 letter word out of the UNIX dictionary. This was used for a long time for choosing project names. Now, we choose names from cities within our region. The names have to be short. No use in typing more letters than necessary.

Just add a next generation in the name

something 3.0

or to gain some momentum, use an innovative word and add "Next Gen Something"

Other words for augmentation / consideration

Northstar
Excellence
Innovation

would like a name that tells or a little bit what the project is trying to do.

How about "Hal" ?

I'm sure the letters H-A-L could stand for something appropriate.

Did you know that HAL was intentionally IBM, but one letter backward?

If it's point-to-point real time middleware, use something with "[Data] Broker" in it.

How about "[company name] API Management Platform"?

Either that or "Adepta Sororitas API Dominator".
