For some reason I have been reading a lot of SHTF books recently  and there are a lot of them on KUnlimited.

Here are some good ones:
THE JAKARTA PANDEMIC by Steven Konkoly. Imagines an ex-military drug company rep and his family going through a flu pandemic in Maine. it rapidly devolves into shootouts and major mayhem but has useful vignettes like the idiocy of people choosing to let their kids get together for playtimes. Other books in the series follow up with the after-effects of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from a high altitude Chinese nuclear weapon attack on the US and a possible meteor strike coming from the direction of the Perseids.

The Deep Winter series by Thomas Sherry follows a plucky band consisting of the hero, his family, and some neighbors in the aftermath of major eruptions from the ring of fire volcanoes in western Washington and Oregon that trigger a massive earthquake. This is followed by a series of calamities including the ash fall from the eruptions, a nuclear attack, and a flu pandemic. All great fun

L.A. Dark and the Jeremy's Run series by GF Gustav. These are post EMP adventures of some LA hipsters. While there is a lot of action and shootouts there is also a lot of philosophy and ethics. The author is an engineer who minored in theology.
