Best MVNO for Verizon Network - any updates?

Post by simple man » Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:16 am

As things are constantly changing, I thought I would ask everyone for their updated experiences on the best MVNO on the Verizon network. I want to stay on the VZW network because of certain rural coverage but see no need to pay full price. Any recommendations?? Also, so far, the only things I know of that VZ has that others dont is the NFL pass and visual voicemail. I think I can live without those for now....If you know anything else I would lose with a MVNO switch, please let us know that also! Thanks as always for your help.

We've been very happy with Red Pocket. You can buy a month to month plan directly, or get annual cards on Ebay. (And watch slickdeals for the occasional deep discounts on ebay purchased annual plans.)

Red Pocket has different plans for every major US carrier.

Not sure what "best" means - they'll all have the same network coverage. Red Pocket has some very attractively priced plans - http://www.ebaystores.com/Red-Pocket-Store.

They have some plans that are restricted but most of their plans work on any of the big four (look for the four colored logos on package).

Also, I need a 4 line plan ideally. I could break it up to single lines, but would hope a family plan would be better. I see Total has those.

While all carriers prioritize their own users over MVNO users, Verizon is notorious for deprioritization of MVNO users with data speeds limited to just 5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. Lately that has been changing as documented here https://bestmvno.com/red-pocket-mobile/ ... n-network/

The totalwireless.com 4 phone plan would be my pick.

Verizon towers. Plenty of shared data. Auto pay discount.

What are your data requirements? If you’re an XFINITY/Comcast cable customer and use a total 3 gigs or less, check out XFINITY mobile by the gig (uses Verizon for phone/LTE). You get millions of hotspots to save on data as well. Check here to see if you have a compatible phone (https://www.xfinity.com/mobile/byod). You can have up to 5 lines. You retain visual voicemail and all services as far as I can tell (I came from att). I’m averaging 1-3 gigs data per month and my bills are ~$27. Very pleased!

I've also had good experiences with Total Wireless. I recently realized that I don't use very much data (most always on Wifi), so I use the $23.70/m unlimited talk/text and I just buy 5GB of data for $10 when necessary. The data purchased as a block rolls over for as long as your plan is active.

I hooked it up to a Samsung Galaxy J7 Sky Pro, which a few months ago was $80. I've been really impressed with that phone for its price point. It is easily as good as the 3 year old flagship (read: overpriced) phone it replaced.

Why not get Verizons Sub-brand "Visible"? They just started a few month ago and they work pretty good for me. $40 all in with internet flat (and I watch a lot of Youtube while traveling) So far the best deal for me on the Verizon network.

Had good luck with Page Plus when I just had the one line. Moved to Total Wireless because it was less expensive and included more data with our two line plan. Been working great for the last year or so and we're averaging $61 total monthly.

We've got 4 phones on Total Wireless. Total cost per line is about $27/mth (including taxes and fees) with unlimited calling and texting and 25 gb of shared data. Total Wireless has been pretty smooth to deal with in terms of billing and customer service. They're owned by TracFone and they have been doing MVNO for years. We've been happy with their service- generally good but we occasionally hit rural spots where we don't have service.

If you are a Comcast/Xfinity internet customer and don't use much data, they are a really cheap option. We'd be with them except that we use a little too much data.

One thing I found with Total Wireless is that they don't supply a nice voicemail system. I had no issues on my iPhone (probably because I was using Apple's voicemail) but my wife's Galaxy S7 required her to dial in to check voicemail. She uses an app called youmail (I think) on it now which is a really nice voicemail app.

If you have comcast cable, then xfinity mobile may be cheapest if you do not use data much. For example, it is essentially free if you use less than 100mb. viewtopic.php?t=220754

Another satisfied total wireless user here. I have visual voicemail on my iPhone but we can’t seem to get it to work on spouse’s iPhone. I realize our speed gets throttled sometimes, but at this price point I don’t mind.

Also available if you just have internet I believe. (Cable is such a ripoff IMO)

Yes. You are correct. I used the term cable for cable tv as well as cable internet. Often they have deals that cable tv with limited channels are essentially free though bundling. Of course, after two years, it would be expensive and you have to call to cancel the cable tv portion or renegotiate.

Xfinity sounds ideal, but not an available choice here. So far, no real alternative to Verizon for our situation - continuing to wait and watch.

Do you have charter? I believe they have something similar but not as good. https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless ... ity-mobile

Formerly did PagePlus and Kitty but ended up back on VZ prepaid for more data. First line is $40 and $30 for additional lines with unlimited talk and text and 3 Gb with carry over

I own the next hot stock- VTSAX

Just checked Veriszon prepaid faqs but couldn’t determine if wifi calling is supported with prepaid. Anyone know if it is supported?

I have used both Straight Talk (Verizon) and Total Wireless. Am currently on Total Wireless paying $35 and change for the 6 GB Walmart Plan and using an unlocked Samsung S9+. I do not believe that wifi calling is supported, but I am able to use this phone as a hotspot. Am very happy and have not had any coverage issues. Total Wireless also recently started a rewards plan similar to Straight Talks to earn points towards free service plans. If interested in switching, my referral code is QSBA-9B1C.

We switched from PagePlus to Boom Mobile a year ago. You don't hear their name as often, but they're a Verizon MVNO, and they're cheaper than PagePlus with more plans to choose from. Monthly automatic renewal has worked flawlessly. I've contacted support a couple times (setting up new phones, etc) and been pleased with the prompt, competent, USA-based help. Their website is much better than PagePlus - you can easily check your voice/data usage, change plans, renew early, top up data, etc. There are no fees/taxes, so if it says $30/mo, you'll pay exactly that. The only annoyance I ran into was that they charge you $7 shipping for their "free" Boom SIM.
