Experiences (Ideas for)

Post by 4nursebee » Sun Sep 23, 2018 5:09 am

Hello. We have decent health and expect an average or better retirement. A common element or theme I pick up (online) is that money can best be used for experiences In building a wish/idea list for the future, I wonder what others have done that have been most memorable. What made it memorable? Who were you with? What else is on your list?

Our memorable experiences as a couple (no kids here):
Throwing parties for everyone we knew with live music.
Staying in larger college towns, walking around, eating at unique restaurants.
Bike trail rides

Our list:
Maybe see every state, see the best off road bike trails.
Frying Pan Bed and Breakfast
Consider international extended stay.

Yes that is a good bucket list.

I guess I am more interested in what others did, found memorable or significant, and why. Everything is interesting before I do it...not so sure about after. Thanks.

How about some things with an element of risk (you could die doing them!) that say less than 250 people in the world do every year?

Fund, orchestrate and deliver a "make a wish" opportunity for a child.

Well I'm originally from NY and loved traveling to Europe with my family. Once we took in the French Open in Paris for our 30th wedding anniversary. Another was snowbirding in FL in the winters. Also some volunteer efforts were very rewarding....meals on wheels, animal shelters, hospital work, etc. Everyday is a blessing for me!
Those who move forward with a happy spirit will find that things always work out.

Others are thinking of experiences as well, and have done so for ages:

I'm not saying one should follow in their footsteps, but some considerations are presented.

Frying Pan looks cool! Experiences in the same airy vein:
- parachute, co- or class
- ultralight passenger or class
- paraglide, co-flight or class
- parasail ride
- balloon ride
- helicopter to Frying Pan?
- heli-skiing

  • We have a goal to visit all of the National Parks. We've been to about half of them now.
Later, I'd like to visit all of the World Heritage sites.
You should see the Great Barrier Reef before its totally dead.
Hiking the Colorado trail would be very cool too.
