This is the kind of thread that makes me weep for mankind....how can anyone honestly need recommendations on freaking underwear? Have we become that un self reliant?

Sigh...ex officio's are really good.

Edit - I completely blame the internet for this ... can you imagine a guy going up to another guy in real life and asking him what kind of underwear he wears? The reason there is a stigma for certain kinds of behavior is that there SHOULD BE one.
May be men would live as long as women if they also feel free to discuss their underwear.

Not likely, unless discussions of men's underwear included brassieres.

I think they called them manziers on Seinfeld.
Here is a 1m15s YouTube on manziers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8YIbhJhH7s . I gave up on men's longevity too soon.

What a timely thread. I have Hanes boxers now but have been trying to look at other brands because these ride up all the time..

TMI, sure..but we are all human and have (mostly) the same needs. Hopefully underwear is one of them!

A pack of 7 Hanes briefs from Walmart, hanging around there just opposite the brassieres isles for women.

This is a pretty amusing thread and after seeing some of the recommendations that I have never heard of, it was even funnier to watch some of the youtube videos about the brands and recommendations for best underwear.

I like the Kirkland briefs with no advertising: https://www.costco.com/Kirkland-Signatu ... 23810.html

For sleeping in the summer, I just bought (and like) boxers I recently bought on Amazon. They're 100% cotton, not thin, hold up to washing, and are very inexpensive: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BTHFBYW
+1 for Kirkland brand

Saxx and it’s not even close. They are worth every penny.
+1000

I do have some Adidas that I like, but I think it's unlikely I'll ever purchase anything other than Saxx ever again.

They had a discussion about manziers, but I think the name they finally settled on for the product was the "Bro". :happy

I buy Hanes boxers at Walmart one size larger than the label recommends (I should be a M so I buy L) and am happy with those. I'll pick up some at Costco every now and then if they have something that looks like it will work, but it's a crapshoot since you can't tell from the package if you will like how they fit or not. They had some Calvin Kleins a few years ago that were cotton with a waistband thing and came in blue and black that I liked, but I have never seen them since.

You're right... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doorman

"At George's, Kramer and Frank think about going into the bra business with Sid Farkus ("The Sniffing Accountant"); Kramer likes to call his invention "the Bro", although Frank prefers "the Manssiere"....

....Later, as Kramer walks the street carrying a stereo, the same German tourists he "entertained" earlier see him and try to stop him in a scene alluding to the film, Marathon Man. Kramer manages to stave off their anger by introducing "the Bro" to them"
The surest way to know the future is when it becomes the past.

I tested a bunch of them recently - Exofficio, Kirkland, CK, Uniqlo. Liked Uniqlo the best. Great price and quality.

I usually stick with Jockey classic BB because I have always had big thighs. I find most BBs have narrow legs so I always stretch them out super quick or I have to go one size up which is way too big.

I will have to check some of these other brands. Jockey still makes my preferred black undershirts though. I haven't found anyone who comes close especially for tall sizes.

If you're not loyal to a particular brand perhaps the local Goodwill store might have some interesting options.

Struggling to find a good replacement for American Apparel.

Uniqlo — good and not expensive.
Mack Weldon — pretty good, but they run a little small despite having an online size chart.
David Archy —- a bit weird, but comfortable. Try their modal undershirts.
Duluth — I found the synthetic to be almost painful to wear. We were meant to wear natural fibers.

What’s this Saxx I keep hearing about? Will have to give them a try. They are clearly very popular with Bogleheads!

Based on the comments on this thread........yep... I ordered one pair of the SAXX Platinum........$35.99.....

Gotta say.......they are much more comfortable than the Duluth boxers that I've been wearing for the past many years. Next.....I'm thinking about ordering one pair of the SAXX loose fit boxers. I'll give them both a test drive for a week or two, then decide which one to stock up on. Gonna be watching for a sale price....need about a dozen or so to replace the Duluth........ :sharebeer
