Received a recall letter (May 2016) from GMC Trucks about the Takata airbags replacement. My dealer says they have not received any direction yet?? Checked on the status via NHTSA website and it read "Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available. May 27,2016. GM has submitted to NHTSA a Petition for Inconsequentiality and NHTSA has granted GM until August 2017 to complete its investigation and to submit all data supporting the petition"
GM's task is almost 1 year past due, 2 years since it was published! Status remains "remedy not yet available. Sent an email to the NHTSA hotline and this is what they responded with. "If your vehicle is included in a recall and you are unable to receive the recall remedy, you may file a complaint stating the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. If you are interested in filing a complaint you may call our Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to assist you."
Anybody here tried filing a complaint with NHTSA and got anywhere with it.
