Killing mold and mildew outdoors

Post by tennisplyr » Tue May 15, 2018 7:08 am

I'd like to get rid of mold and mildew on outdoor bricks and concrete without using bleach or power washing. Any thoughts?

Since you seem to be adverse to typical treatments, are sunlight and lack of new moisture able to do anything?

I have tried similar things, don't remember if I have used this one. Nothing beats bleach followed by pressure washer a few days later, but this does work.

The Wet and Forget in the previous post worked really well for us. It does take a bit of time for the action to happen, anyway when we used it on our roof it took a couple of weeks. We were selling our house when we used it. The roof looked brand new after, while being about 15 years old. Overall worked really well.

However, unless you can remediate the root cause it will return. Mold spores etc are airborne. Root cause is going to be lack of direct sunlight, poor airflow, dampness etc and of course these three things tend to occur together. Something you can't remediate is the direction the house faces or the amount of space between structures. You are probably going to be fitting a never ending battle.

Jomax is a product that you mix with bleach that renders it safe to plants, etc.

I've used Wet and Forget for several years on the north side of my house which gets somewhat mildewed without treatment.

For the second story I use a trombone sprayer.

Excellent stuff.

Wet and Forget is a great product. Works on stones, roof, walks, moss.

As mentioned already, available in 2-pack at Costco. On sale now for $19.99, $5 off.
