Mozart in the morning, please

Post by retiredbuthappy » Sun Apr 15, 2018 11:33 am

So simple but impossible:
Wake me up at 7AM with same Mozart string quartet and perfect sound quality.
Provide clock face to check time. Don't add lots more hardware.
But Bose Wave Radios break after a few years and replacement is $
Any other solutions?
Thanks, RbH

An iOS (iPad, iPhone) device plugged into the speakers of your choice. The clock app allows you to play a song for an alarm. I would imagine a computer could too.

A few years back retiredbuthappy discussed his/her $3 million portfolio. How's it been doing? I think retiredbuthappy deserves a new Bose Wave Radio if that worked for him/her before. Spend a little, that's what it's for.

Combination of Sonos and a clock. Sonos will do the alarm function you want easily.

Edit...Sonos sound quality is merely “good” (better than Bose, but not “perfect”). If you want “perfect”, a Sonos connect:AMP, a pair of audiophile speakers, and a clock.

1. Something like Alarm Clock Xtreme + Free Sleep Tracker and Timer for your smartphone/tablet.

2. Many smart watches have a built-in music player. I don't know if any have a feature that lets you select the music to play when the alarm goes off.

Admittedly both options trade off size and portability for "perfect sound quality."

Thanks for suggestions. Some new ways to get music now are good....others I am eventually going to understand and hopefully use.

For wake-up music, I would choose Haydn's Surprise Symphony, or Bach's Coffee Cantata. :D

When I was a newlywed 40 years ago, my then-wife always set the clock radio to an FM station that played the William Tell Overture every weekday morning at 6:00am. Much more effective wakeup music than Mozart string quartets.

Well, we're getting away from the OP's technology-related question, but as long as people are thinking about "music to wake up by" (and hoping I got these links in the right order):

Haydn's Morning Symphony

"Sunrise" from Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite

"Oh What a Beautiful Morning" from Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma

Johann Strauss' "Morning Papers" Waltz

"Good Morning" from Singin' in the Rain

Depends on how you want to wake up I guess. Seems to jolting to me, I’m more of a Beethoven 6th Symphony, First Movement person:

I'm jealous of anyone who needs waking up at 7 am. I have not set an alarm for years, because by 6 am every day I am fully awake. I'd love to be sleeping still at 7 am but in never happens, no matter what time I go to bed.

Go east, young woman.

Or just set your clock ahead, maybe.

For what it's worth, I have a Bose Wave radio I bought circa 1992. The CD player likes to skip but otherwise it still works perfectly, now mostly playing music from a Sonos Connect.

Also, any music that woke me up in the morning would rapidly cease to be my favorite music. I have my Sonos system set to play "Relaxing Bird Songs" in the morning, and now I pay more attention to the birds I hear outside (hey, that sounds just like the recording...). None of which is likely to be helpful, but we seem to have moved past that point now.

There should be an easier and lower cost solution but I have to agree this might be the best choice right now (especially if you have Amazon Prime with access to Prime Music). I might cover the camera, just in case Amazon decides they want to watch me sleep.

Well heck, if money's no object and the OP really wants "prefect sound quality", I guess you could just hire an actual string quartet.

Oh, but you'd need a "clock face to check time", so maybe also hire Flavor Flav to be the quartet's hype man.

But if that's not practical, I recommend Tivoli's products. Pair this one with your phone or tablet and you're all set: https://tivoliaudio.co.uk/model-three-b ... radio.html
Stay on target...
