Thanks!
I'll second this. Best vacuum I've ever owned. I love that it comes apart so it's actually like several vacuum cleaners in one. I'll agree it has very strong suction.fsrph wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 8:27 pm My relative has several cats. She tried many brands of vaccum cleaners both cheap and expensive. The best one turned out to be a Shark from Walmart. Exceptional suction, simple design and light to move around. I think this is the model she bought.

I'm guessing it's more of a failure to fully read the OP. I myself nearly made another Miele post until I saw the budget. Some people only really read the subject.
How is your shark doing? We're thinking about getting one. Large shedding dog, multiple surfaces.IowaFarmWife wrote: ↑Thu Apr 12, 2018 6:13 am OP here: thanks for all of the suggestions! We ended up ordering the shark off of Amazon.
OP revised this old forum with an update with the Shark they bought.Sandtrap wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:20 pm+1fsrph wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 8:27 pm My relative has several cats. The Shark is the best vacuum cleaner we ever had. Tried many as we have cats and also multiple surface floors, laminate, wood, carpet, tile.
We bought the best one that they make.

Just last week I emptied our Shark. The brush roller had a lot of dog hair in it, but it has a groove to allow a scissors blade to go under the bound hair and makes cutting the hair easy and then also easy to peel it off. This is also stated in the instructions. I was surprised there was so much hair collected because I never see any around the house.zeal wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 7:06 amHow is your shark doing? These things reflect true inflation. I bought an X4 automatic for $600 about 8 or so years ago. It is now $850 on the website. It has been great. Works well and has never broken down.McSpiffy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 6:55 pm I purchased the Sebo Felix several years ago while Costco carried them ( https://store.sebo.us/content/felix-1-premium ). It is a ~$700 vacuum, however; I believe that the design, construction and features are well-worth the cost. I'm a dog owner so I've always sought a way to eliminate the "pet funk" that permeates bag systems. The Sebo Felix is the best at containing/eliminating pet odors (I've had Hoover, Oreck and Dyson upright vacuums previously).
The only downfall (besides initial purchase) is that due to all the air filtration, the body of the vacuum does give off some heat. I only mention this it is the one misgiving I can fault against this vacuum . . . that heat buildup is a result of filtering the air so you won't smell the "pet funk". The rooms always smell clean after vacuuming!
I've purchased Sebo consumables (bags, filters, etc.) via Amazon. If you search for Sebo Felix, you might find a better price as well as plenty of positive reviews. Sebo is a popular vacuum brand in Europe . . .
warranty is oustanding.mariezzz wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 10:29 amOP revised this old forum with an update with the Shark they bought.Sandtrap wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:20 pm+1fsrph wrote: ↑Tue Apr 10, 2018 8:27 pm My relative has several cats. Question for others who have owned a Shark longer: how long have you owned it and does the suction stay just as strong after 7-10 years?
I just wanted to let you know that if you want to cut down on the dirt and gravel, check out Stanley Steamer's door mats. They really cut down on the amount of dirt, gravel, etc. that gets into the house.IowaFarmWife wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 10:04 am It's doing just fine. I forgot that I had posted this! You do have to take the filters apart to clean them once in a while, but it's really no biggie. It picks up the cat hair, and gets all of the dirt and gravel well.
