Dark - Side Window Deflectors for Cars

Post by ejvyas »

Are dark side window deflectors legal in MA? There is law against front side window tinting so I wasn't sure if it includes this. Where should I check?

I don't know about deflectors but I do know front window tinting is not good. I have dark tinting on one of my cars (bought used already tinted) and it is bad in the dark. I roll down the front windows many times when I drive around in dark areas with no street lights. So beware if the deflectors block your view.

Good Luck

Not sure what you mean here, since these actually fit into the window channel in the door frame, not "stick-on"...

I understand that but it seems the rear window deflectors are difficult to install and wont stay on

Does that mean if I cannot lower my windows?

No...but it may be a bit of a challenge to install...I have fronts and rears in my 2002 Toyota Highlander and this was not an issue...however, designs may have changed slightly over the years.

My wife's passenger side deflector often interferes with the window power up cycle, and the window just bounces off the deflector and goes back down. It takes two hands to push the deflector out of the way and push the window up button to close the window. Not sure the thing will last much longer. If there are adhesive strips, be sure to prep the mating surface well (alcohol wipes). Automotive adhesives work great now days, but not on a dirty surface.

And they make noise from the wind. We still use them in her car for the dogs (nice to crack the windows and have some rain protection. Dogs don't ride with me, and I didn't get a set for my car.

Weather Tech deflectors are not attached with tape of glue they actually are inserted into the window glass channel. Believe me once they are inserted and properly "seated" they will not come out. That has been my experience on several cars I have used them on.

Hi,

I bought the cheap ones on Amazon for 2 cars for less than $90.00 total including shipping. They stick on with 3m tape. Clean surface with rubbing alcohol first. One set had a small gap at top of one so filled with a little black caulking. Not perfect but I really like them.

$100 for four pieces of plastic is ridiculous.

Good Luck,

Wally
