I ordered my last belt from http://leathergoodsconnection.com. I happen to be wearing it as I type this reply. They offer a made in the US custom belt for a very reasonable price. I paid about $47 (incl. shipping) for mine two years ago.

I just got a new belt off amazon using the new buckle technology. It allows for much more adjustment than just the 1/4 inch holes in a regular belt, and is easy to adjust on the fly. The belt seems to be fairly good quality so far. There are several companies making belts with similar buckle technology. I ended up getting the Trakline belt. http://www.amazon.com/Trakline-Automati ... kline+belt
Other similar belts are the mission http://www.amazon.com/Mission-Belt-Mens ... ssion+belt
and slide belt http://www.amazon.com/Slidebelts-Leathe ... slide+belt

dutchtulips wrote:I really like Filson's belts. I have been wearing the 1" with suits and it definitely does the job. Great leather quality, and no creasing either. Below is the link to the 1 1/4" version (not sure if they're making the 1" anymore).

PS you can get it from Amazon also
+1. The power of simplicity. For past 10 years have had two favorite classic belts for both work and leisure, the 1 and quarter inch Filson bridle leather in black and brown. Finally wearing out, ordered replacements. Made in USA with timeless look. Also have 20 year old sturdy braided belts in black and brown from Coach which are great but Coach no longer carries them, agree that Coach and many other so called high end retail outlets that source goods from Asia are replacing high quality with cheaper but probably more profitable stuff.

Just a heads up, Orion is offering 20% of all orders on Cyber Monday. That means you can get one of the best classic men's belts out there for under $40 shipped!

I just stock up on belts when there's a killer deal by lurking on slickdeals. In my last haul I got 8 belts at about $4 each out the door. Gives me plenty of backups so Im never running around trying to find a belt in the morning and keep one in my car for those times I forget my belt completely.

Go to a craft fair and purchase one that is hand-made from quality leather. Will be less expensive and can be modified to your specifications in terms of width, length, type of buckle, etc.

I have a bit of a fondness for belts made in the country I am visiting- I have one I bought in Rome, where I watched to women make it in front of me, one I haggled for in a souk in Dubai, a nice Canadian belt from Quebec City and even an sting ray skin belt (with a secret money compartment) I bought in Thailand...great memories from all of them and I swap out regularly.
That being said, my "goto" belts are my Slidebelts- one I bought for myself and one my kid bought for me when she asked what I wanted for my birthday.
