A question for the Bogleladies or those who can consult one

I agree with Nordstrom's or my very favorite - Soma as someone else mentioned.
Soma has wonderful comfortable intimate apparel and almost always has a great sale going.

A third vote for Rosie. Perhaps a poll is in order.VictoriaF wrote:My favorites: Rosie for Autograph and Stella McCartney.sscritic wrote:http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/blogs/5451 ... awers.html

Good luck to PE, who seems to have settled on a fine approach.
Would be interested in hearing if the outcome is positive.

Yes, now the Bogleheads Retirement Account (BRA) is available to everyone! It's no longer just Victoria's Secret!VictoriaF wrote:If we have a Bogheheads beer we need a Bogleheads bra.

Your asset allocation provides full coverage! Periodic rebalancing offers more comfort! The growth in your net worth has never been more smooth! Available in a classic and traditional three-fund model, or for the more daring - go for even more funds for a sexier approach! Yet all models give you secure support for the long term!

I vote Nordstrom's or Somas.

NOT a dumb idea at all and what a loving thing to do for your wife:to ask advice from a group of anonymous people you have decided to trust.
Many years ago, between a divorce and graduate school, I worked at a high end boutique in ski county, Colorado. Often men would come in to purchase a gift for their wives, on their way home from hunting season in the Rockies. Knowing that the splayed deer on the hood of their car would not be a peace offering, they came into my store to purchase lingerie.
Most were timid, quickly selected whatever I suggested (price was no object), had it gift wrapped and hurriedly left.
One day a middle aged couple came in. They wanted to look at lingerie and I directed them to several racks of high end product. He helped her select items and when, in the dressing room, she asked for his opinion, he entered for a short time, either nixing the selection or giving his approval.
At the end of about an hour they piled their many choices on the counter and I rang up their total. It was a large amount of money, but then, THEIR SMILES WERE LARGER.
If it were me( the husband) and her(the wife) this is the scenario that I think would be memorable and symbolic.
Don't involve the kids. This is a husband-wife-romance thing.
Kersten
PS A high end store such as Nordstroms, Sax or in my area of Florida, Dillards(my choice) would have great product, a large selection and hopefully attentive salespeople. Figure spending at least $300.00 for about five or six items-"WACOAL" brand can't be beat for CLASS and longevity.

Thank you, Kersten, for the insights.
I am disappointed that the purse thread is leading this one in the number of posts by the factor of 2. We need more information here.

If you had followed my followup to your post in the purse thread about underwear, everything would have been in one master purse/underwear thread.VictoriaF wrote: I am disappointed that the purse thread is leading this one in the number of posts by the factor of 2. We need more information here.

I was disappointed that you left me hanging.Where do you get your upscale underwear*? I hope it is not a secret of yours.VictoriaF wrote: Upscale underwear and perfume have higher utility in marital signaling.

* Yes, I am not married, but I might be a cross-dresser.
My guess is that more men spend more time shopping for purses for their wives than shopping for underwear for their wives. It is not surprising that there are more comments in a thread on purses than one on ladies underwear since there are more posters with knowledge and/or opinions on the former.

I apologize about not responding earlier. At the moment, I am browsing Wacoals recommended by Kersten.sscritic wrote: I was disappointed that you left me hanging.

It NEVER in a million years would have occurred to me that underwear could cost that much...

I wear Jockey panties. My DH ordered me a selection of Jockey styles and gave them to me for my birthday. He spent about $100. I tried on everything and kept about half. I love them and it was a very sweet gift.

But wouldn't you feel special in a pair of $135 panties?retiredjg wrote: It NEVER in a million years would have occurred to me that underwear could cost that much...

I have been told by a number of women, including my wife, that one can never have too many earrings!Professor Emeritus wrote: I do very well with earrings, but you can only own and wear so many.
That said, any and all attempts I've ever made at buying my wife clothing of any type--with or without professional help--has met with failure and the item(s) being returned; I gave up years ago. Now I either go along on her shopping trips, bring my credit card, and choose one thing or another if she asks my opinion. While she's happy with this arrangement, I must admit I feel like a failure in this department, and hate men who say things like, "I just bought my wife a new outfit--dress, shoes, bag, jacket (etc.)--and she loves everything!"
I applaud your courage and wish you the best.

I believe that you are in the DC area, if so there is a nice place downtown called Coup de F-something (I think). Conviently located close to that overpriced, but good chocolate shop. I bought some nice pieces from Saks, Neimans and Nordstroms recently and it was a big mood booster.

Ok my wife was a summa cum laud in Math, who dressed like what some 1960s Germans called a Mathmädel (female math student who dresses unattractively to distinguish herself from secretaries)Jazztonight wrote:I have been told by a number of women, including my wife, that one can never have too many earrings!Professor Emeritus wrote: I do very well with earrings, but you can only own and wear so many.

As a medical student and pathology resident the excuse was that nice clothes would get spoiled in that environment. Later she would buy nice clothes, but refuse to wear them since they were "too expensive" for the event. My daughters do help by throwing out her ugliest oldest clothes. She still fits her college clothes and would wear them if we let her. Pure boglehead when it come to clothes.
She does "clean up" nicely. Once she was one of 10 medical pioneers winning major awards. Nine guys in dull grey suits and one lovely lady in a stunning red silk dress. I had bought it and made her wear it. A Harvard prof told me, "no wonder you are smiling, you're dating the Prom Queen"
Wee are in Alaska at the moment but the shopping excursion is on schedule for later in the year
