As a LV resident I suggest that you call The Bellagio, ask them their rates, and then book the room. Life is too short to worry about a few hundred dollars.

I've stayed at the Signature (MGM) and The Hotel (Mandalay Bay). I don't think you can go wrong with either one, but I would only choose Signature if prices were comparable. Since The Hotel is much cheaper, I would choose that route. The rooms are a little darker and it is closer to the casino.

The only downside is the location of both hotels - location of other properties is much better. Have you priced out Bellagio, Wynn, or Venetian? I would select either of those any day over the options you have listed if they fit into your budget!

I've only been to Vegas once, so I'm far from an expert. We stayed at the Monte Carlo. The price was right, the location on the strip was good, but the room was probably on par with the Holiday Inn. If and when we ever go back, we're going to stay at the Bellagio. I don't know what the rooms are like, but the rest of the hotel is absolutely beautiful.

What about planet hollywood or treasure island?

I would pick theHotel as the best value of that group.

If you want cheap then look at Flamingom bally's or harrahs.

When we were in Las Vegas, we found that there was so much to do and see that we spent little time in our hotel room. If your preference is to spend more on luxurious accommodations, that is fine. However, we found that as long as the room was neat and clean, it made little difference to us. We stayed at the Flamingo and found it more than adequate.

First timers to Vegas often spend so little time in their room it's not worth paying extra. We go to Vegas for the gambling, the eating, the sightseeing, the people watching, and also the day trips (Hoover Dam, Mt Charleston, Valley of Fire). None of those things are in the hotel room so I don't waste my money there. Even location doesn't matter much to me because I like walking and running and I always rent a car in Vegas but midstrip might be better for most; have you checked Harrahs or the Flamingo? Casino Royale is across from Caesars, next to Harrahs, cheapest gambling on the strip and not horrible rooms, definitely a great location.

TheHotel at Mandala Bay is awesome and by far the best deal in your list. Be aware that any of these properties have a daily mandatory resort fee of $20 to $25.

While the Excalibur is the best value of the bunch, I am leaning to theHotel. It's not that expensive and you guys seems to have good things to say.
For a hi end, we may wait until she comes to NY and we go to AC during the week. There are some great deals to be had there on the off season.
thanks again.

In Vegas you are so rarely in your room that any reasonably located hotel that is decent will serve your purpose.

If youre doing Vegas right, you wont have enough time to see what type of granite your hotel room bathroom is made of =)

Maybe. But then you're waaay off the Strip and need a taxi or rental car to go anywhere worth going. I would recommend Sam's Town to the more frequent visitor who has "been there, done that" when it comes to the Strip.

Of the hotels the OP listed, I'd lean toward THEhotel, just because that's such a good price for it.

But the deciding factor would be what other activities I planned on doing--shows, restaurants, etc. I'd favor hotels that were convenient to those things.
Stay on target...

Wife and I spent three nights at Vdara 2 weeks ago and the price was very reasonable........$109/night plus $25 for resort fee for suite on 28th floor looking at Bellagio lake. We like Vdara because no casino and easy access for parking rental car (free valet). North of Vdara is Bellagio and south is Aria. The price really jumps up for Friday and Saturday nights so we avoid those nights. We booked directly with hotel and got the best deal. Saw Jersey Boys at Paris which we enjoyed.
Good luck.

I put this up two days ago and was going to make reservations at theHotel
PRICES doubled

Now which is next best

Signature at MGM 480 392
TheHotel at Mandalay Bay 610 498
Vdara 769 659
Mirage 615 492
Excalibur 158 139
Aria 632 496
NY NY 364 300

I am thinking Signature is now the best value and will make reservations tonight
These discount prices jump all over the place

After calling the price changed within the hour that I call.
I waited and opened multiplie windows- they got different prices.
Finally went with the Signature at the MGM for about $115 per night
(plus resort fee).
On the phone they quote more than twice that. Boy these prices go all over
the place.

+1. BTW, if you're still interested in Monte Carlo, try entering "xsocial" in Offer Code for more savings.

Since we have not seen each other in quite awhile, we will spend a fair amount of time in the room.
We did end up getting reservations at the Signature (which is part of MGM)
Rates went over the place, but we ended up with $99 per night; plus the usual "whore" taxes (ie phantom extra charges for use of the resort).
Still, the price was good. It did take opening 5-6 search engines and checking every few hours.

If money is an issue you can always check on websites for hotels. Most of them have fixed prices that won't change and they are pretty rapid about handling your reservations, too. Just one off the top of my head: http://las-vegas.hotelscheap.org/
