I have used Tim Stears Auto transport multiple times. They have transported cars from New York to Florida, and New York to California, for us. They were dependable, professional and reasonably priced.

There are many that are just brokers and put the transport out for bid. If you want to put it out for bid yourself try uship: http://www.uship.com/vehicles/

A couple of years ago I used a company called All American auto transport (#650-777-0933) to ship my car from California to Illinois. They were really easy to work with and charged a fair price. Some companies don't allow you to load your car with personal belongings when it's shipped, but these guys let me load the trunk and put linens and soft materials in the back seat.

I was very happy using Auto Shipping TLC. Be careful in your search because there are a fair amount of scam operators out there. Here's a review site for transport companies:

I used this company to move about 1000 miles:

Overall it was fine. Having used them once I probably wouldn't use them for a high end car. Among other reasons it is not a covered trailer that they use to get your car.

I called Tim Sears' company. TERRIBLE! They were totally incompetent, very rude and down right nasty. I am amazed they are still in business with this attitude. I'm wondering if they are having financial troubles or perhaps even has some type of substance abuse issues. Don't know, but that would certainly explain the attitude of the people answering the phones. Granted, everyone has a bad day, but I called 3 separate times and spoke to 3 different people. It was the same thing each time. Very odd.

I believe we've had another thread on this subject? Anyway, for careful enclosed transport of a car you care about, I recommend Thomas Sunday, Reliable Carriers or Horseless Carriage. These are not low cost options.
