I make no claims to understand the market's incredibly confusing behavior this year but I just bought more NTSX in my taxable account anyways.

And yes, I am staying the course and have been enjoying market advances lately.
How is that compassion expressed beyond a post on an investing forum?
None of your business, just giving a viewpoint for why everything isn't all fine and dandy as one would assuming from reading the alternative thread. That's all I have to say on the matter. For being a bunch of buy an hold investors, this forum sure does talk a lot about day to day swings (either celebratory or otherwise)
Ok, but if you express an opinion, especially one that implies something negative about others, you might expect follow up questions.
My point was nothing negative about others (although I can see how it could have been portrayed as that). It was a commentary on the two sides of the market and how things are appearing to get a little frothy (hogs get slaughtered). Cheers and happy investing :sharebeer

I do not see this becoming a W. Fed is already engaged and no signs of stopping. This may help push for the stimulus package to get passed though. Vaccine still to come out. Jobless numbers don't seem to have ever mattered with the fed's bank roll pumping money into the market.

I am just genuinely curious, what spurs this tank?

I mean is it MM, hedge funds or who is driving it down..Do they sit together and decide yeah its sep 2nd, not april fools day lets play some games and create panic - surely its not the FED doing it..i never understood the timing / day of why this happens.

there is nothing special about today, no bad news we did not already know, - why today?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A livesoft-defined RBD for VFINX meets all of these criteria:
1) VFINX drop of 2.5% or more.
2) Drop greater than the 4th largest drop within the previous 150 days.
3) Not a Friday.

A RBD in 'all RBDs' meets only criterion (1) above.

I don't really believe in thinking you know what gold is going to do. I wouldn't dare. It has always been valuable because people like it. I think it's very likely that it'll continue to be liked, and somebody will probably give you something of value for it, but that's about as far as I'll go. I choose not to go any farther.

The dip is kinda a nothing compared to the soaring value of USA growth stocks. You have to have some reactions. Everybody knows that there could be a selloff by "other people" sometime. For every movement, some folks will be fearful and some will be greedy, and the buyers and sellers have to be found at some price. Stocks could all get cut in half and not be really out of the reasonable range, and everybody knows that might happen.

Total Bond is not up much really... Currently... Total Bond (BND) is up +0.09%, Total Intl Bond (BNDX) is up +0.02% and Total Stock Market (VTI) is down -3.29%
My portfolio is equity-heavy and I'm down a lot, but some of my bonds are in long-term treasuries (EDV) which are up +1.28% - it's times like these you see their value.
