New/old Portfolio Withdrawal Scheme

Post by drigooch » Thu Nov 04, 2010 11:43 am

The link below develops an alternate approach to the 4% COLA scheme for retirement portfolio withdrawals

The two approaches are compared using S&P500 returns in two time periods, 1970-2009 and 1999-2009. Interesting results.

My head is spinning reading this.

May I suggest more tables/examples showing the 40 year payout as you move along in your explanations? I am lost.

I think I understand this.

This method keeps you so busy calculating your withdrawal amount that you have to no time to spend it. Therefore; You have plenty of money.
