Bogleheads® Live: Submit ?s - Dan Otter on 403(b)s

Post by JonL »

'Bogleheads® Live' is a weekly Twitter space where the do-it-yourself investor community asks questions to financial experts – live.

For the Thursday, August 11th episode, we'll have Dan Otter of 403bwise. We'll be going live at our normal time of 1:00 PM PST / 4:00 PM EST.

Learn more: https://403bwise.org/about

You can submit your questions below for Dan. (I may include your question in the episode. No guarantees.) Or, you can ask your questions live by joining us on Twitter Spaces.

Here's the link: https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1dRJZldkqvDKB?s=20

While anyone can listen to a live Twitter Space event on desktop, you'll need to be using the Twitter app from a mobile device to ask questions (if you’d like to participate in the Q&A).

If you're not already signed up for Twitter, you can do so here: https://twitter.com/. You can sign up with your Google or Apple account, or via phone, or by email.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Thank you,
Jon Luskin

Curious why the JL Collins replay is not available?

1. Given equal investment choices/vendors, is there any reason to not prioritize a governmental 457(b) over a 403(b) if unable to max both and neither offers employer match? Example: both plan types offered and Aspire self-directed is the best option for both

2. What are some strategies you would recommend for using a 457(b) and 403(b) most effectively to minimize taxes in a FIRE situation (say, retiring at 50-55)

Thank you for your time and efforts to educate on 403(b) in the educational setting. Your book, podcast, website, and Facebook page have had a huge impact on my financial planning and will save and net me a lot of money in the long-term

Hi Cycling Duo,

Thanks for your question.

I'm releasing the recorded episodes weekly. I'm about ~7 weeks behind. That is, JL's episode will be available as a podcast for download seven weeks from the air date of the episode (because I need time to edit the episode, upload it to the podcast service, etc.)

I recently released episode 14. In it, David Blanchett discusses retirement planning. You can check that out using the link below:

https://www.buzzsprout.com/1973223/1093 ... t-planning

And thanks for listening!

Best wishes,
Jon
