What is your age and asset allocation ?
im currently looking at my AA. Going over this past year and reviewing my reactions to the ups and downs. Im prob way to conservative for my 60 years of age. Im currently 68% Fixed, 20% Equity and 12% cash. I dont mind being somewhat conservative in that financially im well off and I know its an individual "comfort, sleep at night " thing.. But.. still curious how people are deciding whats right for them...Thanks..

51 yrs old, 78% equities 22% bonds. Retirement in 15-18 years. Basically I am following the Vanguard asset allocation for target date fund 2035-2040 but doing it myself. And yes your asset allocation is extremely conservative even for retirement.

Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
I am 51. Wife is 59.
I will retire in 0-4 years. Wife will retire (again) in 0-4 weeks.
Currently 45/55 stocks/bonds.
Was 66/33 in 2008, discovered that was too aggressive for us (but we never sold during the crash - see my join date - thanks Bogleheads!), went to 50/50 around 2010-2011, and 45/55 beginning of 2020 (before Covid was on the radar)
Will stick with 45/55 or 40/60 until wife starts collecting Social Security, then may move back to 50/50.

Age: 49
AA: 60% US equities / 20% Int equities / 20% Bonds.
I've started cutting back from 30% Int (10% to up Bonds to 20%) and removing REIT from my IRA (it's in the ROTH now).

Almost 59 and still working. My AA is set by having 20 years expenses beyond pension in bonds/cash (31%) and the rest in equities (69% and 40% of that international).

Always been aggressive, stay the coursers. We were 100% equities until a couple of years ago.
EF has varied between 2-3 months expenses but significant severance would be forthcoming if I was laid off

51 and 49. 70/30 for 4 or 5 more years, then 60/40.
Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
64 and 59 here, still working. We were 90/10 for a long time and went to 60/40 couple years ago, probably forever.

Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
54 and 70/30 forever. One caveat - I will cash out enough to pay off the outstanding mortgage at 64, one year before retirement, which will make my overall risk profile lower. At that point, I will have 5 years left on a 15. I have two teen daughters and a younger spouse, so I am investing not only for my time horizon, but theirs as well.
Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
64 and DW 66 - no debt and currently 35% stock, 62% bonds and 3% cash. Gliding up to 50/49/1 when we both are on SS.
Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
Currently, age+4 in bonds, but it's a static allocation and will slowly change. Doing a bond umbrella in early retirement.

I believe there's a general rule of thumb, and that's all it is, that your minimum equity level at any age is 30%. I'm at 45/55 and retired 9 years.

Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
Age 59, Wife 60.
Main Portfolio is 60/40
Besides that, we have a TIPs/Ibond ladder set up to last 15 years, starting at age 70 to supplement Social Security, after which we'll consider a SPIA to carry us the rest of the way.
Because of the TIPs/Ibond ladder, we are considering bringing the Main Portfolio up to 65-70% stocks at some point in the future.
Cheers.

I'm 36 and my wife is 29, we are 100/0 which does not include a sizable cash EM
Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
56 years old and plan to work another 7 years. 70% equity, 30% bonds (intermediate investment grade and short-term investment grade). Equity is split 70/30 domestic/international (Total Stock Market and Total Int'l Stock Market.). I was 80/20 until I was about 50. I plan to ratchet down the equity 1% per year over the next 10 years and probably keep it at 60/40.

54 and 52. retired 54/46 drifting up to 60/40 which we plan to hold through retirement.
Never panic. Stop looking so much.
Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
49/43 couple, we are around 83 stocks / 17 bonds. Target is closer to 80/20 and once some dust settles at work for both of us at work and we know what the next couple years look like, we will start a glide towards 60/40. We have a so-so pension that will come close to covering half expenses if we wait until 67 to start drawing.
About 20% of our stocks are in taxable, and that will grow over the next few years as we put more into taxable than tax deferred. So I feel pretty good about bridging the gap from early-ish retirement to drawing pension to drawing social security.
We are pretty aggressive, but our history is positive during downturns of not taking any action besides buying stocks non stop.

Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
45/43 couple. 70% stocks/30% bonds, with the stocks split 62/38 US/International. 1 year living expenses in our emergency fund. We plan to retire in 5-10 years depending on how the health insurance situation evolves in the US. Our IPS calls for a glide to 60/40 at the time of retirement, then a return to 70/30 for legacy/charitable giving purposes once I start drawing my pension.

Age - 43
Cash - 11%
Equities - 55%
Bonds - 34%
My aim is for invested assets to be at 60/40, and as of 8/31 they're at 61/39, so pretty close to what I want. Right now my invested assets exceed my "retirement number" for a 3% withdrawal rate, so I'm not overly concerned about my cash position (although it is higher than my LT plan). I would have retired earlier this year if not for some family medical issues.

Asset Allocation for long-term investments is 60% Stocks 40% Bonds. The stocks are roughly globally weighted per VTWAX. The bonds are weighted US vs Intl according to Target date funds.

Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
43 years old. Married, no pensions.
70% stocks / 30% bonds
2/3rds of this in a Vanguard Target date and my international component (for my entire portfolio) is whatever Vanguard has in there.
My personal taxable is 75/25 and my overall AA adjusts itself slowly as the target date fund glides.

Re: What is your age and asset allocation ?
Ages: soon to be 52/53 - no debt.
80/20 - most of the 20% is in CD's or HYSA (misnomer).
Once retired (planning 59.5) pensions and farmland income will fully meet our spending needs.
The 80/20 portion will only be needed for discretionary spending so we are being somewhat aggressive with this portion.

We are 65+ Retired
*What works for us so far.
Allocation 35/55/10 (index only)
Hybrid LMP Per Bernstein
Assets diversified (R/E) outside of the market as well.
Pluses:
Sleep factor
De-risking, minimizing volatility (choice of underlying funds)
No pensions so this structure works
Low fund costs
Long term hold with minimal rebalancing = less stress
Zero debt

50% stocks, 7% of which is international, 48% bonds, 2% cash. More or less following Otar's advice that at 50/50 you can't go too far wrong. Pensions and Social Security meet all our expenses.
