Looking for great interviews, podcasts, blogs

Post by LarryCarell »

Dear Bogleheads,

I really enjoy listening to Rick Ferrys bogleheads podcasts (wish he could do it more then once per month) , morning star podcasts, watch interviews with J.C. Bogle and others. I usually hear on these podcasts references to other interviews with J.C. Bogle and other great minds. Maybe you could share some links to great interviews, podcasts, blogs with J.C. Bogle and other great minds which you find interesting and are close to bogleheads way of thinking?

Thanks

I like the Rational Reminder podcast with Ben Felix.

He has done interviews with William Bernstein, Ken French, Eugene Fama, Michael Kitces and many others. Well worth the listen in my opinion.

Ben Felix is awesome. He also has a Youtube channel which is just his name ("Ben Felix").

He's a strong proponent of factor investing. If you like that approach, try the podcast "The Curious Investor" (https://www.aqr.com/Insights/Podcasts). It's done by a firm, AQR, that advocates factor investing. Season 1, Episode 3 is a nice conversation between Cliff Asness, a founder of AQR, and Jack Bogle about their different approaches to investing. They respect each other's research-based approach.

I like Bloomberg's Surveillance podcasts. They don't have a long shelf life - they cover current financial news, events, etc., daily. They're generally fairly intelligent, typically interesting for financial news junkies and occasionally they're absolutely fantastic. I think I prefer them over Marketplace, if that adds some context for you.

if I could only choose one podcast it would be:

econtalk hosted by Russ Roberts

planet money (NPR) is also good.

both cover economics.

The difference between the two is planet money is like a hamburger with cherry coke, while econtalk is like filet mignon with chateau lafite.

both have their place and I enjoy them both for what they offer.
It's "Stay" the course, not Stray the Course. Buy and Hold works. You should really try it sometime. Get a plan: www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Investment_policy_statement

Coffee with The Greats isn't investing specific but has some fascinating interviews (I enjoyed Jamie Dimon's).

Thanks for the suggestions. If you had to recommend me just 1 of that list, which one would it be? I like science based, rational thinkers like Ben Felix.

Jim O is extremely science based and rational (I love listening to him discuss the policy reaction to the current global turmoil) but Corey's Flirting With Models is probably the most consistent science based discussion on pure investing strategies (Jim O talks about more loosely related topics like human nature/psychology occasionally).

Corey will take a different systematic investor and dig deep into their strategy, whether they be a value person, long-short, trade volatility, etc...

He is also well known as the rebalance-timing guy which is a topic I find extremely interesting myself (index rebalancing strategies can have significant differences depending on when they rebalance). He discusses this particular topic as his own guest on this episode and has some interesting approaches to smoothing out this uncompensated risk. https://blog.thinknewfound.com/2019/12/ ... iming-luck.
