Money for a house down payment

Post by Mario2222 »

Any recommendations for a good fund to park the money that we are saving for a house down payment? Time horizon 2 to 4 years. Thanks.

Unless you don't care if a down market means no house, then just use CDs.

Even an extremely conservative portfolio can have a drawdown of 10%.

A not too risky bond fund would be my recommendation if you're looking to keep par with inflation (VUBFX is where I stash some holding money for just such a purpose). If that's not a concern, and you need to be safe, money market account.

I parked money from my home sale in an Ally savings account until I bought my current home. Safe and earned a couple of percent.
Those who move forward with a happy spirit will find that things always work out.
