Different closing prices from Yahoo and Market Watach

Post by earlyout »

There is probably a simple answer but I was updating my portfolio spreadsheet this afternoon and noticed that Yahoo gives the closing price on 11/29/19 for DFA Emerging Markets Core (DFCEX), as 20.68 while Market Watch has a closing price of 20.45. There is a similar discrepency with DFA Intl Small Cap Value (DISVX) with Yahoo reporting 19.00 and MW reporting 18.89. Why?

I think Yahoo finance has incorrect prices.

For the closing price on 11/29, several sites show it as 20.45.

Yahoo frequently has incorrect pricing data. I no longer use it for that exact reason.

Haven't tried them all, but pretty happy with MarketWatch.

Strangely, the worst so far is the daily performance email from Vanguard! They often (maybe every 2 or 3 months) put in the previous day's data. Pretty easy to catch the errors, but still provides for a brief "What the ____" response.

Checking Yahoo's listings of historical prices, they have the same closing prices for 11/27 and 11/29 for these MFs. Maybe their system had too much turkey on Thanksgiving.
