Helicopter money - try 2

Post by samstar » Wed Jul 10, 2019 11:14 pm

Original post here. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=285366

Don’t think the thread meets the definition of pointless trolling and was mistakenly locked so trying again

I can find plenty of useful, economic content to discuss within this thread. I’m intending to highlight a scenario most are underestimating and discussing the implications for portfolio construction. How is that considered arguing about something pointless and non-actionable? It both serves a purpose and is actionable.

It is frequently discussed in academic circles and by some investment managers but not here. Hopefully admin reopens original thread.

Suggestions:
1
change your title so that it is actionable. IE: under the following scenario, how would you structure your portfolio going forward?
2
PM a moderator directly is the best way to do things.
3
Structure the initial post presentation so that it is not interpretive and is well focused toward a personal financial investment strategy specifically.
4
A post that is a redirection via link to another thread is. . . .

Talk to a moderator privately, don't repost. FWIW, I thought your thread was not actionable and worth locking.

This thread is trying to revive a topic that had run its course and was locked (not actionable, hypothetical - helicopter money). This topic is locked too.
See: Non-actionable (Trolling) Topics

If readers can't do anything with the content of a topic other than argue about it, it does not belong here. Examples include:
  • US or world economic, political, tax, health care and climate policies
  • conspiracy theories of any type
  • discussions of the crimes, shortcomings or stupidity of other people, whether they be political figures, celebrities, CEOs, Fed chairmen, subprime mortgage borrowers, lottery winners, federal "bailout" recipients, poor people, rich people, etc. Of course, you are welcome to talk about the stupid financial things you have done.
This thread is left visible as an example of an unacceptable topic.

Also, refer to rules#rule-6b
Locked Topics

Moderators or site admins may lock a topic (set it so no more replies may be added) when a violation of posting policy has occurred. Occasionally, even if there are no overt violations of posting policy, a topic (or thread) will reach a point where the information content of the discussion has been essentially exhausted and further replies are much more likely to cause distress to the community than add anything of value.

Topics are locked to give everyone a chance to cool down. Thus if a topic is locked, please do not start up another thread to continue the discussion, at least right away. Such follow-on threads may be deleted without warning

Member Rights in a Dispute

If a member has a post edited or removed, or has a topic locked and feels that he or she did not in fact violate any of the forum's policies, the member has the right to have the dispute heard by the Advisory Board. In such cases, the member should send a Private Message to any forum officer (Moderator, Admin, or Advisory Board member) or an email to bhadmin@bogleheads.org. That officer will forward the message, verbatim, to the Advisory Board for due consideration. A decision will be rendered within 48 hours, and will be conveyed via PM from a forum officer who was not involved in the initial dispute. Please be aware that moderator decisions will not be overturned lightly.

Notifying the Advisory Board via PM or e-mail is the only acceptable outlet for complaints regarding Moderator action. Members do not have the right to take their appeal to the rest of the forum or to complain publicly about Moderator actions. Follow-up topics complaining of alleged ill-treatment by Moderators by the original poster, or any other member, will be deleted and may result in further administrative action. If you see such a post, please do not respond. Even if you support the Moderator's action, your post will be deleted with the rest.
