Bogleheads® Wiki 2019 annual report

Post by Barry Barnitz » Sun May 12, 2019 11:41 pm

As is customary, on May 13 (the official day of inception) we present to the forum membership our annual Wiki report. TedSwippet, who I am sure you all recognize and applaud for his efforts at helping investors, kindly consented to author this year's report.

Veteran forum participants and lurkers have by now realized that dear Mr. Bogle's lifetime mission of serving the individual investor has not been restricted to the US shoreline. Our Canadian friends have been in tune with the Bogle crusade for as long as we in the US. We also have like-minded investors in Taiwan (here and here), a large local chapter in the UAE, as well as our official contingent from en España.

In fact, the global reach of bogleheads.org. became so apparent to the site owners and forum administration that new non-US forums were added to the forum platform this summer.

As "Ted" will inform you, the internationalization of the wiki goes on apace: Bogleheads® Wiki 2019 annual report.

thanks,
Additional administrative tasks: Financial Page affiliate blog; finiki the Canadian wiki; The Bogle Center for Financial Literacy site; Wiki Bogleheads® España.

On a minor point, our Canadian friends have actually been in tune with the Bogle crusade longer than we have in the Bogleheads forum.

Big thanks to all the registered editors that make this possible. Side question, what the heck happened in July 2017 to cause wiki traffic to quadruple?

This might have something to do with it: Outline of tax law changes (Tax Cuts and Jobs Act)

Tax reform started hitting the news around that time frame. After the legislation became law, it took a while for everyone to understand the impacts.

Interesting, thanks for the response. You'll have to forgive me for finding it a tad ironic if that was the cause of increased traffic given the forum rules with respect to discussing pending legislation. :happy
