Most people who come into the investment industry choose to make money. Jack Bogle chose to make a difference.

And he did.

I always looked forward to hearing Mr. Bogle spread his message in hopes of enriching the common investor. He was a great man, truly one of a kind. Some endearing words from Warren Buffet on Jack:
"If a statue is ever erected to honor the person who has done the most for American investors, the hands- down choice should be Jack Bogle," Buffett writes, adding:

"For decades, Jack has urged investors to invest in ultra-low-cost index funds. In his crusade, he amassed only a tiny percentage of the wealth that has typically flowed to managers who have promised their investors large rewards while delivering them nothing - or, as in our bet, less than nothing - of added value.

"In his early years, Jack was frequently mocked by the investment-management industry. Today, however, he has the satisfaction of knowing that he helped millions of investors realize far better returns on their savings than they otherwise would have earned. He is a hero to them and to me."

We lost a pioneer and a pillar today. I am fortunate to have met Jack twice, at Bogleheads 2014 and Bogleheads 2018. A humble, amazing man who didn’t take no for an answer and changed all our lives because of it. We are your legacy. You are missed Jack!

My father started investing with Vanguard in 1975 and was able to send 3 of us to college, by getting a “fair shake” from the markets.

Plus a great quote from Morgan Housel on twitter:
John Bogle built a nonprofit business with $5 trillion under management. What would have been profit effectively went to retirees. He's the biggest undercover philanthropist of all time.
