Post by Rick Ferri » Sat Dec 08, 2018 7:32 pm

I am interviewing Christine Benz from Morningstar as my next podcast guest. The interview will take place this Tuesday. If you would like to ask Christine questions, please post them below.

Thank you!

Ms Benz has evolved into one of the leading proponents of a bucket strategy. What drives her to keep recommending buckets? She has no clients to keep assuaged, right? Does a Morningstar committee sit around and approve all her advice ahead of time?

Ms. Benz - Having been through a difficult experience with your own parents and the financial problems with long term care itself and long term care insurance, what specific financial advice can you offer those of us either dealing with our aging parents :( or becoming aging parents ourselves

Would love for her to tell some anecdotes (without naming names to protect the innocent!) about her favorite and least favorite/challenging interviews over the years.

Thank you for doing this podcast.

I would want her what her investment portfolio is since at the end of every one of her blogs says she has no investment in the funds

I like Christine and always enjoy her articles and videos. She was also on Consuelo Mack this weekend.

Rick,

Please ask her why most of the funds she recommends (for example in her bucket portfolios) are active and some have relatively high expense ratios. That's one thing that has always confused me.

I'm looking forward to hearing your podcast with Christine, Rick. I'm sure it will be interesting and informative, as have all of your previous ones.

(For those who don't know, Christine is a regular panel member at the Q&A with the Experts sessions at the annual Bogleheads Conferences.)

As a scientist (PhD) interested in a possible career change to become a financial analyst. I'd like to know how she transitioned into her role at Morningstar and any advice she would have for those without a traditional finance background.

It's a relatively recent (2018) addition but will now be a regular (monthly) feature.

Rick's got some interesting folks lined up for future podcasts. Stay tuned.

I would like to ask her what is the best investment strategy? Building a portfolio of several passive index funds or building a portfolio using active funds that have a four or five star rating from morningstar.

What are the tax diversification guidelines for people (single & married) at the different tax bracket levels during each decade of one's life time?
Rocket science is not “rocket science” to a rocket scientist, just as personal finance is not “rocket science” to a Boglehead.
