VG site: I wish it were easier to see all conversions

Post by montanagirl »

I think it should be easier to see all your tIRA to Roth conversions for the year. Or contributions, whatever. There used to be a Retirement link on the main Account page that would show how much you've put into your tIRA for the year or other time period. That was helpful back when I was working.

Anyway it seems like it should be simple to see a sum of all Roth conversions for the year, like one click, and also the sum of ALL Roth conversions ever. I'm probably done with conversions now but I'd like to see how I did. (At least, filtering for conversions doesn't bring up Investor-to-Admiral. That was really irritating.)

Am I missing a shortcut?

I think I did four this year. Is that relevant?

I think the only option is to scroll through your transactions unfortunately.

I’ve done two conversions this year out of International holdings.

Cheers

Does this page help?

https://personal.vanguard.com/us/myacco ... ntribution

Scroll down and look at the "Rollovers" column.

Should have added that it's the "Retirement Contributions, Distributions, and RMDs" link under "My Accounts" on the dropdown red menubar on most pages.

I've found it's easiest for me just to enter all these transactions into a spreadsheet when I do them. It beats logging into Vangaurd/Fidelity/Schwab's site and finding where the transaction history's been moved to this month.

Takes me to the login page...but I think I found that particular link before and it's ok.

But why do they call it rollovers? I thought a rollover was a transfer of a tax deferred account from one custodian to another. Would it kill vanguard to use the same terminology its investors use?

This is the procedure that I used:
(1) After logging in, go to Transaction History for all accounts
(2) Using the drop down box, select the account from which conversions were made, either an your IRA or Sep-IRA
(3) After selecting that account, use the Transaction Type drop down box and select Conversions
(4) Using the Time period drop down box select the range of years that you did the conversions
(5) I left the Holdings drop down box as All Holdings

Please note that this will show all conversions including Investor to Admiral and Mutual Fund to ETF, but you can find your Roth Conversions here also.

Hope this helps.
