Vanguard website problems [Transactions won't go through, 500 error...]
Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting this. Am I the only one getting a 500 when I try to login to Vanguard or even just access their support pages? Thanks

I was logged in, updating my spreadsheet, when it prompted for a log-in again. Hmmm. Tried logging in and got the 500 error. This was at about 5:25 Eastern this morning.
I prefer not to access financial accounts via my iphone, so I haven't checked to see if that option works for me.

Site is up and then its down again. I got some work done & then it freaked out on me. Now its up again. Not good.

Site is not fully ok. I just logged in. Got my account balance screen (balance looked ok). When I clicked on an account I got the 500 error "Internal Server Error".

They don't pick up the phone either. I think the plataform is collapsing with market volatility and 1800 "free" etfs to trade.

Me too. All morning I've been unable to access "my retirement plans" to see my 401k account.

Can't do online trades and phone system says not available due to routine maintenance. Forget Vanguard unless the only kind of investment you want to make is a mutual fund.

So far this morning I have only been able to see Account Overview. If I try to click on any of my individual accounts, I get the "500 Internal Server Error."

I just tried logging in and was able to see all accounts and details. I am on the brokerage platform. I have mutual funds as well as individual stocks there. I did not try to initiate any transactions.
Maybe it is a regional server or ?

Yes, received "Server Error 500" on the VG website today. They're definitely having technical issues.

I've seen a couple of errors on the website, but it was intermittent. I was able to place two ETF buys just after 10 AM (VSS and EMGF).
My balances were correct this morning, to the penny. And I was able to check bond prices.

You can't buy anything, as I tried buying more Vanguard ETF. They give you a number but the phone server is under maintenance.

Did anyone ever see Vanguard apologize for these problems, I never have. Vanguard always reminds that online trades may not be available but for the phone system not to work is another matter for which there should be no excuse.

Yes. At 10:15:25 and 10:16:14. It appears that the new-style pages aren't working, but if I click on the menu at the top and go to Balances and Holdings, the page loads properly. I was able to buy 1 more share of VSS via market order at 10:52:59 ET. I would have been better off if my buys hadn't executed, since things are down a bit more since then.

From 9:30AM - 11:00AM, I could log in but couldn't get Market Data or place trades using Internet Explorer.
11:00AM, switched to Chrome, could get Market Data and was able to place trade.
Regardless of my experience, its UGLY.

I tried purchasing ETFs using the app and could not.
Given an error message telling me to call to place trade.
My balances are also reflecting yesterday's prices.
Not a good thing- especially with the market down over 300 points.

The Vanguard app on my android tablet seems to work, I can see market quotes and all of our accounts. I haven't tried to buy, sell or exchange anything.

I wanted to do some TLH today. About twenty minutes ago, I started having problems on the website (I couldn't see detailed holdings per account.) The mobile app worked well enough, but now even that is down.
Now the website is saying "Your account information is temporarily unavailable."
I know the markets are a bit turbulent today, but Fidelity's site seems to be handling the load just fine, at least I can see my holdings.

Lately I have been unable to access the "Balances & Holdings" page from both Google Chrome and Firefox browsers, and I have to use Internet Explorer to see this page. But I don't get any error message, the page just looks blank.

This morning, when I tried to pull up a web page for VTSMX by typing VTSMX into "Search the site or get a quote," and selecting the fund name, I could not get to the fund's web page. It kept directing me to the screen for opening an account. Only when I logged in was I able to get the fund's page information. Or so it seems. It's working as expected for me now.

This is a network connectivity issue according to Vanguard's twitter account.
