Stocks beginning with the letter 'A' continue to soar!

Post by watchnerd » Sat Sep 01, 2018 5:16 pm

1 Year Returns:

Alphabet +30.76%
Amazon +107.97%
Apple +40.59%

Clearly the 'A List' is crushing the meager +17.58% returns of the S&P500.

Have we reached peak 'A'? Are 'A' named stocks overvalued?

Is it time to get rebalance out of stocks beginning with 'A'?

When will the momentum move on to another letter?

And how will this effect your investing strategy going forward?

Year to date:

Anthera Pharmaceuticals -95.66%
Aim Exploration -94.66%
Aeolus Pharmaceuticals -93.64%

None of this will effect nor affect my actions going forward.

There are tons of arbitrary distinctions, such as what letter the company name starts with or what state the company is headquarted in (is the HQ in Atlanta or Albany?) that shouldn't change one's investment strategy in my opinion.

Clearly we need a qualitative filter to remove the riff raff companies.

Call it the "A-Chievers Index".

What about zodiac sign of the CEO?

Look for Aries?

Completely meaningless.

Of course, what city the company is headquarted in is to me is pretty arbitrary when most large companies are multinationals and when there's a fairly integrated global economy. However, while everyone agrees that whether the company is headquartered in Atlanta or Albany doesn't really matter, people have very different views on whether the company is headquartered in Atlanta vs Amsterdam.

A market-cap weighted holding of 'A' stocks... indeed...

You belong on Bloomberg or Squawkbox. Your argument is a bit more intelligent than we've come to expect from the typical experts they interview but you're asking the right questions AND you've got actionable information--which is rare in that business.

Locked. Let's keep the stock trend discussions to two threads:

- U.S. stocks continue to soar!
- U.S. stocks in freefall
