We will see who is right in 18 minutes.
 Unfortunately I think I was right on that little exchange...

On the bright side, Mr. Market is bravely fighting back against any further downsliding.
You can't have ups without some downs.
If you have too many ups then the downs are larger.
Precisely. I like to see the market move up progrssively with some pull back to maintain sanity. Market going only up and up makes me nervous. These patterns of daily undulation but long term gains are welcome.

I like your analogy.

I’ll extend it by saying that we kids on the field have to stay optimistic as the “prophet of doom” prowls the neighborhood, loudly proclaiming “the end is near!”.

Ehhh, no matter what stocks will eventually go up. We are seeing some hard times but I am bullish that the United States will recover.

Apple announcements for new phones may lead to profit taking and drag tech down. Not unusual to have down day on good news or new product news.

Well, Apple did go... down $3.30/share.

Microsoft went up a bit, $1.46/share.

I wouldn't be afraid to hold either, in fact I hold both.

You'd think that the market wouldn't be surprised at that. It's not like it hasn't happened a dozen times already.

If the market was pricing in the hope that the 13th time would do the trick, it's even less 'efficient' than I thought.

Very low level soaring -- more like a fat chicken running away from a dog. Lots of squawking and wing beating but not getting much air. Feathers flying everywhere.

The dog has caught the fat chicken in its teeth, and is shaking violently.

The chicken is gamely resisting, waiting for a tweet or two to distract the dog and allow the chicken to resume its normal soaring.

Yesterday I did two things. I converted our accounts at Vanguard from the “old” mutual fund platform the brokerage account platform.

Whil I did that, I was gassing up the truck and getting it ready to reverse.
