I've edited this post to mention the substantial membership limitations referenced at the bottom of the post. Membership is simply not available to the general population as I'd first thought. My apologies.
I just came across this City Credit Union CD offering on the deposit accounts web site. These are some of the better rates on CDs that I've seen of late. The branch locations are in Dallas and North Texas. The rates apply to regular and well as IRA certificates. I've never done business with them, and I know nothing about them except what's on their web site and the info re them on the deposit accounts web site. Unless I just missed the listing, as of right now, this credit union is not listed on the bankrate web site.
3% for 3 year CDs
3.25% for 4 year CDs
3.5% for 5 year CDs
The early wihdrawal penalty looks to be 180 days.
Re membership, I'd thought that this CU had affiliate organizations that anyone might join to gain membership. It seems that I was wrong and that it really is available to a restricted population. It certainly might be a good option for those in the local area who could qualify.
