Reporter doing story on Charitable Giving under new tax laws

Post by Mel Lindauer » Tue Jul 10, 2018 1:56 pm

Hello everyone:

Laura Saunders, a known Wall Street Journal reporter, would like to talk to investors and others who plan to change their charitable giving in 2018 or beyond because of the massive tax overhaul that took effect in January 2018.

Under the new law, nearly 30 million tax filers will no longer qualify for charitable deductions because their "standard deduction" has nearly doubled. Thus it may make sense to "bunch" deductions into one higher amount every two or three years in order to maximize the after-tax value of these writeoffs.

She can be reached at laura.saunders@wsj.com or 212 416 2781.

Thank you!
