Short NVDA?

Anyone short NVDA? With bitcoin getting taking to the woodshed and Samsung developing ASICs for bitcoin mining, are you short NVDA?

In the address bar of my browser, it says www.bogleheads.org. What does your say?

^ What he said.

No, my index funds are long-only. Why would I hold a security with negative expected return? I already don't hold bitcoin because it has a zero expected return.

Because stocks don't go up forever and neither do GPU prices.

Also, I don't understand the premise about bitcoin. If you could mine Total Stock Index shares, would you have stopped mining it in 2008? IMO it's all about when you actually sell.

That is true. Since I cannot predict the future I will stick with index funds. I am surprised you are not doing the same, having been a member for 7 years.

Good luck.

Sure, lots of people are short NVDA. Last report, there were over 17 million shares short and the next update will be released after 4 PM on 2/9/18 for the 1/31/18 settlement date.

I have been long NVDA since the 20's. It's now 15% of my portfolio. I sold $5k 2 days ago just because.

So, no. Long and strong.

I would not short this stock. NVDA is a leader in its field and that field is much bigger than bitcoin. Artificial intelligence, self-driving cars, etc. I am no prophet, but as one who holds this stock in my own portfolio, I am holding it because of the potential upside in fields other than crypto.

I would not go long this stock. It is massively overhyped and too much good news is baked into the price. Sell, sell SELLLL!!!

Too stressful, I'll just buy the index.
