[Invested today, so] Here Comes the long awaited Correction

Post by bligh » Tue Jan 23, 2018 3:36 pm

I was holding onto new money to invest into the market last week. Waited patiently for a down day and just gave up today and invested it. I find it harder buying at these prices. So anyway.. tomorrow we should be seeing a huge correction.

You're welcome. :sharebeer

I think this is why a lot of people just invest the money as soon as it is available. Timing the market tends not to work too well.

Just think, it could be 1997, with 2-3 more years to go.

Market timing is bad. Doesn't stop me from trying! I am taking this opportunity to extend my emergency fund from 3 months to 12 instead of investing after tax. Once that is done I will have no choice but to go back to buying. In the big picture it will only be a blip in my buying habits.

And if you are in it for the long term, who cares what the market does tomorrow, right?

Ha! We made both our RIRA contributions in full this month, plus our 529, and I'm loading up my 401k max over the first five paychecks... so I figure the big correction will come around march 15  :sharebeer

No, when the last person who swore off stocks in 2009 gets back in, that's when the bottom will fall out.
