Jumbo 30mo CD 2.78%

Not available for IRA according to a poster at depositaccounts.com and looks like a real pain to open and fund a jumbo.

Looks like it's only for some Tampa zip codes, or if you have family members with a membership, but those are great rates.

roflwaffle -
The CD appears to be available nationwide - for those not in the identified zip codes -
Easy membership requirement by joining CU Savers ($10 one-time membership fee)

Unless I'm misunderstanding the terms, any purchase amount over $5,000 cannot be made online, it must be made at a GTE branch.

With that said, thanks a lot for this tip, I live locally and plan to put mid five figures in the 2 or 2.5 year CD for a future home down payment.

Available nationwide. They will actually pay the $10 to CU Savers.
Deposit can be made at shared branch or wired to fund the jumbo CD. That said, it hasn't been easy. I'm still jumping through the hoops. It's also an add-on for 12 months, so you can open with $100k and increase to FDIC/NCUA max later.

Thanks! This looks like the best CD rate since the Andrews Federal deal ended earlier this year. GTE only has a "B" financial rating at DepositAccounts, but they've been around a long time in the Tampa Bay area. The add-on option is also a nice perk.
