Bogleheads,

If anyone is interested in reading on real estate and REITs, www.reit.com offers a bimonthly magazine that is informative.

Best.

Do any Bogleheads read this magazine? The latest issue was mailed to my house.

It is clear: This magazine is not in demand or popular with Bogleheads. Sometimes no responses provides the information or verification one is looking for.

Love the idea of REITs, no tax-free space for them : (

I would rather own the "real thing".
IE: Land, buildings, high rises, apartments, etc.

Do you invest in real estate directly?

Yes. For many many decades. Primarily residential multi-unit housing and R/E development. Owner/developer.
As many here have said. It is a full time business and prosperous if done well. By no means passive nor stress free.
I have been fortunate. :D

Wow - I didn't realize that Vanguard Reit funds are many many times higher than their closest competitors.
The chart was illuminating. Plus the expense ratios of many of the funds were 2 and even 3%

If I wanted a REIT magazine I would just read Seeking Alpha.com.

I do not read "Seeking Alpha". Is this something you recommend?

Always got the impression seeking alpha was click bait. Maybe just the articles from them that wind up on Google Finance...

I read seeking alpha. There are a couple good authors in the REIT space.

However, there is a lot of rubbish to wade through before you find any gems.

I would not recommend for most bogleheads.

I own a couple of rentals right now. I'm also undergoing a major rehab that will add nicely to my net worth.
