Could you please include the member's username fund manager with the fund name, perhaps a 2nd column? Otherwise, it will be difficult to know who's running the fund.

My Ladies First fund entries are OK.

Looking good. I didn't think of a better way to avoid making it a very wide spreadsheet either. In light of this, however, I think you might want make the first three columns the most important ones - fund name, manager / username, and current fund return (rather than the fund return being the last column).

All picks are equally weighted per the contest terms, but you can only have up to 3 longs (and 3 shorts). Please edit your post to remove one of your 4 longs. You could pick a 3rd short if you wish, but you certainly don't have to.

Edit: looks good now

Welcome! The spreadsheet will not pick up the link for your fund's name. Consider changing the fund name.

Since your spreadsheet is public and reviewed by everyone, I don't see anything that would stop you from participating. (The same contest rules apply.)

FYI - The Canadian contest entry deadline has been extended until market open on Monday.

Want to try your luck skill with a market that is 1/10th the size and not as diversified as the US market?*

See: 2017 Hedge Fund Contest - Financial Wisdom Forum You are welcome to join the forum and experience first-hand how investing works with markets outside the US.

BTW, I won the Canadian 2016 hedge fund contest on a single long pick.

The same great honours and awards bestowed upon the winner of the Bogleheads 2016 hedge fund contest, with a favourable exchange rate.

Tanelorn Capital: Better Lucky Than Good
Our concentrated portfolios are designed to debunk that myth that short selling is risky and remind potential investors that no matter how cheap a stock is, there is always 100% to be made on the way to zero.

Short:
PIP - PharmAthene Inc (last price $3.30)

We know some may take issue with our unusual approach so we also offer a more diversified short-bias alternative portfolio, in case the concentrated one above is for any reason found unsuitable:

Looks like the deadline has passed. 65 entries.

As of this posting the open price is still Jan 2nd. Sometime in the next few days I will update the sheet to be based on the correct day (Jan 6th).

You still have time if you want to participate from the Canadian side. Registration is open until the markets open on Monday. Since the spreadsheets use the same methodologies, results are comparable. It might be interesting to compare performance over the course of the year.

See: 2017 Hedge Fund Contest - Financial Wisdom Forum

If anyone wants to try cross-border fund management, you can select the same Russell 3000 funds. Or, give your fund an international flavor with selections from the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

It also looks like the open price for BREW in paper200's fund "Billionaire Yacht Fund Ticker MYG" and for GOGO in boo-yah's "The Unstable Value Fund" fund were not reset to the January 6th closing price. Or there's a rounding issue between the open and close columns that just happens to be apparent for those two funds (and perhaps the other cells that are showing red or green backgrounds, even though they're displaying 0 as the difference).
