It is an awesome prospect to have substantial unearned income.
Sometimes the 'change in value' dwarfs my contributions now after 18 years.
The temptation to just let the account work from now on is there but one of the benefits of keeping savings set to max is the money cant be spent. If the money cannot be spent, expenses are kept low both current and ongoing.
The transition from saving to spending should be an exciting time with your savings DWARFING your expenses at the beginning.

Some days my account drops more than one month's worth of contributions in a single day.

Some months my account drops more than one year's worth of contributions in a single month.

When so much savings contributions can be wiped out in such a short time, I can be happy that I am making good progress towards my savings goals.
