One reason the downturn has not bothered us is that we are still up marginally over 10% for the year with our 60/40 portfolio. It is important to consider the run-up and not get too concerned, at least yet, over the recent volatility.

Currently 12-13% depending on account. De-risked heavily as the year progressed.

60/40 S/B; up 16.7% IRR. I was finally "convicted" and sold all of my ESPP shares. My IRR would be 15.43% if not for those sales. That just goes to show holding onto ESPP shares is probably not going to make much of a positive difference.

My Fido Retirement Accts: (approx 60/40)

YTD = +13.5%
3yr = +7.4% -- IMO, this is a more important number, as it tells me how I'm doing compared to my pre-retirement modeling.

I don't know a lot of tickers, so I had to look it up. The fund is T. Rowe Price New Horizons (PRNHX).

I normally only track YTD, and when that calendar year is up I move on and start over. If the previous year was good or bad, it is what it is. Cherry picking start and end dates doesn't mean much to me.

:shock: HOWEVER, I just checked from 1/1/2018 to yesterday and my PF was up 3.91%.

Yes, and some days stocks and bonds are BOTH up! -- like yesterday. And 10-20 year Treasuries (TLH) were up almost as much as the S&P: .73% vs. .80%.

14.7%. that's basically 72/28, but equities are roughly 50/50 US/Global, so that's dragging things down a bit vs US only.

1.0% over the past 12 months.

6.0% since Jan 1, 2018. AA has shifted a little in that time, but overall it's reasonably consistent with the above.

Those numbers are from my largest account; I'm too lazy to add up all the smaller stuff, but it won't vary too much.

What does the size of the portfolio have to do with this? Just curious to know what I might be missing.

Similar to the rule of diminishing returns. If you have a small portfolio, going from $1000 to $1100 (percentage wise) is much easier than say an 8 figure portfolio going up the same percentage (not saying that I have such a portfolio size).
